Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Ecclesiastes 4:1-2 KJV
1 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.
2 Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.

Ezekiel 37:1-15 KJV
1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
15 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

The idea of death to those without Christ is another person gone and far better off then those living, without a clue of hell/eternal lake of fire. Those without God want to believe death is final and it is not. To believe in God is to believer there is eternity after this earth. A spiritual eternity with hope and not flames of fire. Solomon wrote the book of Ecclesiastes and he was a man with much comtemplation about the here after for he was not an repented man, in fact he choose sin over God's instruction. He was man with a gift of God called wisdom. Though Solomon possessed all wisdom and was able to share it, he had trouble living the life of the wisdom he shared. The wisdom that came directly from God, the wisdom that surround nations heard about and came to witness the wisdom of Solomon. Yet Solomon was lost from eternity with God, because he understood not about God's grace, mercy and forgiveness.

Ezekiel we find God asking him will these dead bones live, the prophet had the knowledge Solomon needed, but this is two different time periods. Ezekiel was time period of exile and traveling to the land of exile, when God gave him the vision of dry bones and dry bones coming back to life. I have written about the life given to those bones at the time of the crucifixion, but have you ever thought what it meant when it happened in Matthew 27, when the dead men walked into Jerusalem alive and well and taken upward before Christ final ascent into heaven.

What comfort is there if we do not live again with death. God is a God of all comfort, Jesus and God the Father did not leave us or forsake us He sent back the Holy Spirit to be our comforter after Christ ascent and until He returns to the earth. If we can get past the point that as a believer we have hope and nonbelievers have not this hope until the day they believe in Jesus, then we can understand the precious hope of the believer and the hope that remains. Believing in God means there is hope. Solomon was a witness of hearing straight from God, but he was a man without hope for he lived in sin, despite the warnings of God. Did Solomon ever get saved, the answer is still unclear about his life, but we are unable to change his fate for he is bones have seen the grave for many centuries.

What then is his bones still in the grave, remember there is a resurrection after Christ children arise to meet him in the sky. Will Solomon rise then, or is he with Jesus now, because of that first resurrection at the time of the cross, only God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit knows in heaven who is there. What am I saying is God of all comfort gives the believer hope through faith despite their trials others are a witness of that faith. One my best witness of faith was a minister who past away some time ago of his faith in Jesus during a storm in his life and his ability to keep praising God despite the storm.

Our hope and our faith must be what spurs a believer on. It is our hope that drives us forward to know that Jesus lives and His Spirit still is with us even in difficult times. We do not look at a coffin or death in the same way because we know our Savior lives. Our hope is rest in the assurance of faith, in the hope of those passing before us are saved as well. Have you ever ask another person if they believed in Jesus. What was the answer? Did you pass the hope of Christ along to the unsaved, or were you surprised by their response of salvation. If they were saved you had alot to share with them, if they are lost you still have a lot to share if they will listen. Yet your witness of your faith is how you deal with crisis or situation. Yet is normal for all of us to loose our patience, our self control with anger and our ability to be unreasonable in time of stress. That why we need the comforter of God and to ask for God to use His Holy Spirit to enable us to be the person God wants us to be. Let us share the hope that is in Christ. Those that are lost check out the page on how to be saved, and receive Christ as Savior and Lord today.

Dear Heavenly Father death is just a passage way to our eternity, open the heart of the unbeliever and instill that hope to us that believe. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 2 Corinthians 1:1-7 KJV
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:
2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
