Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

Esther 2:1-11 KJV
(1) After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.
(2) Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king:
(3) And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hege the king's chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them:
(4) And let the maiden which pleaseth the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased the king; and he did so.
(5) Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;
(6) Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.
(7) And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.
(8) So it came to pass, when the king's commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king's house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
(9) And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king's house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.
(10) Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it.
(11) And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women's house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.

The requirement of different governments effect the family, especially the higher up you go in the political world. One would like to think that everything is perfect with young women not being put in bondage, or men enslaved. Mordecai was a scribe and a person in the court of the king. Yet he had no authority even over his family. His daughter by adoption, was chosen for the king as a potential bride. One might ask how does one teach enslavement and how does one teach another to serve. Esther went willingly into the kings court. No doubt there was much prayer for young Esther from at the least Mordecai. Mordecai visited Esther daily keeping a watchful as much as he could over young Esther. I am sure Esther was learning things in the palace, that would benefit her future role as potential queen. There was six months purification rights before seeing the king. Would he choose Esther as queen. How long those six months must of seem. How Esther would have had to prepare her heart and mind. Yet this was a good opportunity for her because her biological parents were gone and her uncle had taken her in as a daughter, yet he had no control over this situation, for she had been chosen to come to the palace. With those thoughts of the last queen being beheaded, one must wonder how they both must of worried about what would become of Esther.

To be in the will of God does not always mean your free in the world you live in. It only means you are believer call by God who is going to enable you to do the task in the world you live in. In the world to do the will of the world is much harder. It sometimes goes against one’s convictions to survive to use what position you have for good. Esther with God’s help would use her position and God’s will and king of the land’s calling to be queen. Yet the nurturing of her uncle who served the king was a bonus to her, to aid in any questions she might have as far as conduct, rules and laws. No doubt she might have been even schooled in these things once being cared for by her uncle. No doubt stories would have been told of the work in the palace. The legacy and history handed down. Esther had a father that cared though not biological. She had one that cared for her will being. Fortunately that was it is to be a good male role model especially has a father.

Dear Heavenly Father help father’s to know some things are out of there hands but prayer and communication is a plus for guidance. Enable father’s to understand that role of guidance when they no longer have control. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
