29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. This maybe the most descriptive verses of when Christ return. Yet do we note what before it? Tribulation. In tribulation the sun loose her light and the stars of heaven fall and the powers of heaven are shaken. We know that there will be no sunlight to exist, something in the atmosphere had to of changed. How many stars fall it does not say number but more then one or two is going to be a sight for sore eyes. Moon light is also gone. A super unordinary event taking place that man has yet to see. The idea of total darkness. If you ever been in the countryside you might have what is called a pitch black night without even seeing the stars and sometimes not even a glimpse of the moon because of over cast sky. There so much light in cities and towns that are man made that these type of nights go often unobserved, unless you just like studying the sky. However the light of stars and moon is just hidden, maybe one star falling but not all the stars in the sky falling at the time of darkness.
After the tribulation we see the coming of the Son of man in heaven and the tribes of the earth shall mourn. Consider this a bright light of the Son of Man and God will light the New Jerusalem. The place all the saints that rise will live to be with Christ and God. This great mourning comes because the knowledge of the end is near comes to that nations of the world. The earth is darkened to the point it leaving an impact around the world.
If you think about the pandemic it caused most everyone to return to their home and remain within, until government could figure what to do. This darkness will be great enough that man will mourn and weep and look above to see the coming of Christ. That big fluffy white clouds in the brilliant white will be the only stage of hope for the believer in Christ. For we rise up and meet Christ in the sky after the four angels from every corner of the earth are sent with the blast from/of his voice that sounds like a trumpet.
This hope is for you and for I that are saved. And for all that hear and believe and repent and get saved. The point is our hope is rested in the foundation of Christ return. Our hope is known by the signs to come, of tribulation must come to pass. That heart ache and sorrow must be and that light of the earth is gone but the new light has come who lights the path of man that believes. Christ is the light of world. The word of God has always brought forth light to man, in regards to how his way is wicked and his life style is in darkness because he does not repent. Yet the word brings forth light to the world that believe and seek God. Proverbs 4:14-19 speaks this train of thought. How do we know the difference of reality of falling stars and darkness that covers the whole earth. It is almost the same image when God hover in darkness over the earth. (Genesis 1:2) Then there was light. The word brought forth let there be light and it came to be. This time period being like the Son of Man sitting in the clouds coming as the light to the darken world and the people will mourn and those that are his children, will meet him in the sky and the dead in Christ will rise first.
Christ will rule a thousand years and devil will be locked up and only loose for season after Christ reign. Below is some scripture. What interesting is two time periods of Old To New and New to Old. To realize our time period of Christ rule is yet to come, but when it comes, it will be after a great tribulation. When his reign comes the dead in Christ will rise first and meet him in the sky and they will reign with him. Ever cycle of truth and light against the darken world, but a time will come with evil will be tossed away into the pit of eternal lake of fire.
How do we know that Christ return will be a physical appearance of the Son of Man besides in Matthew, because Christ came in the flesh as a baby. God does both a reality and spiritual demonstration to spur faith. Sometimes the physical reality is a little more revealing of our fear of God almight and his Son, as well as a reality of our true love knowing that he could squish us a like ant and yet he can be gentle as Lamb, and fierce as a Lion to those that believe and believe not. The big lion may purr but he has a fierce roar and long claws. God is gentle with his children but he is fierce in correction, helping them to understand his reality, and his judgment to come. The importance to share his love, his gentleness, purring Spirit, maybe seem like it all we want and need to know, but how can we draw the perishing out of the fiery lames if we do not know they are in desperate need of the knowledge of God. We are able to share our Savior's love with them. God bears the fruit of his Spirit but also the correction of a King upon his people and the wicked betrayers of good.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to remember that your Son's return comes with much tribulation and your wrath upon the earth. Yet it comes with the hovering of your Spirit in darkness and are faith being approved with his coming. Help us to hold to your hope of promise of Christ return. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
