Unity Of The Spirit 07/29/2016
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisEphesians 4:1-16 KJV
(1) I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
(2) With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
(3) Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
(4) There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
(5) One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
(6) One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
(7) But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
(8) Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
(9) (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
(10) He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
(11) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
(12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
(13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
(14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
(15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
(16) From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

As my husband and I worked in unity to set up a tent, I could only think, is this truly possible that we could put something together without fighting. Marriage whether you are alone or have company you should be able to work in unity with each other. Yet if you watch enough sitcoms, the comic writers would have you convinced it not always so. In truth the fiction often portrays the reality of human life in comedy of our peers that laugh at each others human antics. Unity in the church is much needed, it not about which church it about unity of the Spirit till we all reach maturity of faith. As long as people continue to receive Christ unity will be worked on. For truth is we all have to work through different aspects and questions of our faith. If receiving Christ was all that was needed for perfection of unity, then all would receive the baptism through death and resurrection of faith and be united solely to each other as being washed in the blood of Jesus without question. It is the beginning of unity of faith but it does not stop there. People have to grow up in the understanding of there faith beginning with salvation and continuing on even through doctrinal issues.
To understand that the word of God is important to tearing down the roads that lead to sin. To destroy those things in a believers life that will cause one to fall. Each believer needs love and truth. Each believer needs forbearance with one another to work toward unity. No one is so perfected to the point that there is not disagreements in faith. Yet Jesus desired us to be united as one. As churches continue to split over doctrinal or legalistic and sensationalism views, the story of Christ spreads but the separation of the body continues. Can the body come together in wholeness as one or will it only be united through the cross of Jesus by salvation. Truth of the matter it perhaps will only be united as the church comes to the throne Christ in love and desire for truth and understanding though slow in some and fast in others, might break the chains of legalism and the sensationalism views.
Without the resurrection of the dead saints with Christ death and ascent into hell, one would never believe man will rise again. For Christ equality with God only makes ourselves more human without the ability to rise from the grave. Yet Holy Men of old said when Christ returned the judgment would come and second resurrection would take place. The final judgment would be complete. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Our salvation is through spiritual resurrection upon our death unless Christ returns and we are still alive. If we are alive we are rapture up to meet Christ in the sky. The judgment would not effect any believer that remained on the earth. For God’s people are sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked by his hand. God’s people have nothing to fear with the Holy Spirit’s seal. Salvation secure, yet the ability to walk through fire in the judgment perhaps only to help a few more escape the flames through faith.
The priesthood separated by the Sadducees and Pharisees had to do with the resurrection. The idea of the resurrection was like the idea of the flood coming in the days of Noah. Some believed and some did not. Today churches split over prophesy, idea of prophesy, and the power of God to do things in a person life. If all of scripture is believed to be true, then the power of prophesy must remain to be true. Not an act of man but act of God. Believe not the prophesy of open doors in one’s life, then perhaps you can not receive truth of Christ return. What will you be doing but living on the day Christ returns. When He returns will you be like the people outside the ark of faith or inside the ark of faith as in the day of Noah.
Point is the church can not be divided spiritual on the issue of faith, love and truth. The true church believes in the resurrection and the return of Christ coming. These are issues that can not be changed or amended. Divorce was a law, it was something given and changed for convenience sake in a world of sin. Take heed to what you try and change in faith, it better not be the things that deals with spirituality of faith. It takes time to believe but once received as truth it easy to grow, because God going to enable faith. Meanwhile grow in love and truth.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the evidence of faith through open doors and miracles, but most of all through truth and love. The truth of word may it hold each believer to higher standard of faith in you. In Jesus precious name, Amen. |
