One Lost Sheep
07/20/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Matthew 18:10-13 KJV
(10) Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
(11) For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
(12) How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
(13) And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

One lost sheep that has gone astray is hunted by the shepherd to put back into the flock. What a glorious thought of being found and put back with oneís family. Yet why did the sheep go astray is my thoughts today. Was it because of sin that caused the sheep to be separated by his family. To be outcasted and not sought out by his family. The sheep was only sought out by the shepherd and not the sheep. If a mother cat hears her kitten crying, she will go to him and pick him up by the nap of his neck and put him in her nesting box. She will go and lick his head to tell him it is okay. If the kitten goes astray she seeks him out. Yet a sheep seeks not his own to restore, but the shepherd does.

Perhaps what we should say is the sheep of God belong to him and not to flock yet he is one of the flock. God seeks his own and even takes in the lost oneís in the world that belong to the enemy, because the devil cares not but to destroy. Godís loves his people but also those running. See the sheep with error of going astray is no less guilty as the entire flock.

Dear Heavenly Father tahnk you for the sheep that gone astray to teach us we belong in the flock because you care for us. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
