Every Sunday A Psalms: God's Hand On His People

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 94:1-23 KJV
(1) O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
(2) Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
(3) LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
(4) How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
(5) They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.
(6) They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
(7) Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
(8) Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
(9) He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
(10) He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
(11) The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
(12) Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
(13) That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
(14) For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
(15) But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
(16) Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
(17) Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
(18) When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
(19) In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
(20) Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
(21) They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
(22) But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
(23) And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

It is easy to point fingers at evil doers when it effects a whole society or more then one person. When one error of a legal law is broken it easy to jab fingers and point out sin. It is easy to view the Bible as a ancient book of law. Laws that make little since from the killing of a stranger that picked up wood on the Sabbath because he probably knew not the law. The justification of legalism of the law that when pushed can cause the innocent to be punished. The law becoming a criminal out of ignorance or illegal justification. Religious rite have the same issue of humanity of judging based only on what is perceived by the human eye rather then what God sees is the human heart. What is evil can be equality righted to believe to be okay, if not understanding of law is created.

God defines evil differently then man on some issues. It any of Godís laws that are broken. The greatest law is to love/honor the Lord God. The second law loving others as yourself. If one examine this Psalms man is wanted his enemies destroyed. An enemy that kills people of old, widow and so forth. A group that believes not in God but are allowed to lead creating laws without the understand of evil from the way God views it, beyond the things man of all societies agree with.

There is time God carries us when evil arises, when trouble comes and goes there is times when it only by Godís grace and mercy we are able to stand and soar like eagles. It not by power or our might when evil is around us. When things go wrong as they sometimes do, that should never be. Yet the law even if it is swift to hold correct judgment in oneís view, one has to examine by Godís way of thinking. God is our rock no matter what going on around us. He is a shield and deliver to His people. Justification comes with chastisement and correction upon faith, yet chastisement needed for correction of the upright heart, for example Job, thought he, himself was guiltless, and found himself falling to his knees in repentance. Job never understanding Godís chastisement on his sin. Only seeing the justification of God, because he did not punishment a people that repented not and ways were evil. Godís mercy on Old Testament leaders that had more then one wife, and yet God created man to have a monogamous relationship with one spouse. Church justifies ancient leaders as being pure only on close examination can find sinful act of adultery in leadership but people that were upright in belief of Godís superiority.

God is our rock, our shield and our deliver, and yet we all sin and fall short of his glory and honor. We all fall, yet God is our deliver and our rock. One the sinner can rely on for justification and correction. God and Christ is one if we believe and honor both of them, we can hold to concerning their promise of salvation for mankind. Yet the requirement is belief/faith in Him. Our works demonstrate whose child we are, or desire to be. Our works show our evil intend of the heart as well as the good things seen. If all are evil, what hope does man have but to trust in the purity and sanctification of God through the cross of Jesus. Let us bow to the one that can save us in all our imperfection. Save us our imperfection because he created us without sin in the begin with the ability to sin. Let us make it a choice to serve God even in our imperfection that can only be cleansed through the cross of Jesus by faith.

Dear Heavenly Father let our world around us be seen as only a reflection of our past mistakes, Enable us to strive to set goals of living and striving for you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
