Every Sunday A Psalms: Floods Come And Go

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 93:1-5 KJV
(1) The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
(2) Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.
(3) The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.
(4) The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
(5) Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.

As flood come and go, God is still mightier then his creation. His creation established old, and yet everything had a beginning date, but God himself. His word from everlasting to everlasting forming new and creating it old. We examine the earth and say billions of years old, and yet God says He formed it that way, so time is not as old as it appears. See life cycle also take age for it to continue in a circle. It the old story of what came first the chicken or an egg theory. Science believes they know now. I think does it really matter.

The truth is still the same, For new begin something old had to be. For God to be He had to come from eternity. Yet eternity is often seen future but it is from Old as well. God can create a flood or storm from nothing and then one can also watch the weather and see the changing of seasonal patterns that form the rain that produces a flood. Right now I do not doubt the shock and horror of devastation is plaguing the people of WV as they clean up their area. For months they still be finding mud no matter how well they clean. Some loosing houses will not know how to rebuild their lives or how to lay claim to those promise of God of restoration. Others will lay hold of Godís promise of restoration and move on in life, with tears shed, of the dawning of each new day.

What are able to accomplish without the hand of God involved. God supplies and provides provision even when one loose all. One would not like to think of using primitive survival skills, but it not impossible. With sod soaked word taking a board/log and hand drill to make a coal seems impossible when you have equally matches sod soaked. Why are not match boxes coated in some kind of plastic case. The lighter sod soaked as well, go figure. Rubbing sticks are primitive too, but it might work if that old cook stove does not have a lighter.

There is a point to my madness today, even when there seems no hope, there is always another solution, even if it primitive and the most primitive solution is prayer and seeking God for deliverance, knowledge and know how to enable a person to restoration. We serve a majestic God, that knows what lays ahead and what was before. God desires restoration and hope for his people. Yet flood water of Noah time testify of his mercy on eight people with the promise of never totally destroying the earth with water again. Floods testify of that promise and continue to yield rainbows of hope for his people.

Government supplies or supposedly supplies everyone has equals, though most would agree if you know that person with kin ties to the government, they might be able to get a few more things then everyone else, because they know that red tape and how to avoid it, when possible. Yet the truth of matter is no situation is full proof, but governments are only temporal but God supply is unlimited. God might use governments to help with supplies, but Godís people also ship things too, because the government will fail and Godís people will prevail. Godís people know what government will supply just like most other organizations, that where picking up what is not supplied. Government does not supply hugs, though people of compassion might, encouraging word, often cleaning supplies for the task at hand. Devotion of love supply of clothes, toys, furniture comes from people that care.

The other day I seen on the news where people are changing clothes out because of no washers or dryers. Though there be laundry mats across our nation, it easier to give someone a clean pair of clothes then wash them. Water is not cheap anymore to supply for cleaning, though there seems to be abundance of water from the sky. One has to ask is this world all mixed up. Nations around the world have had dirty drinking water that Americans taught others how to filter and boil. Can government aid individual people with water for cleaning and filtering in our own nation.

God is the supplier of clean water and filter water, but it knowing how to use it and filtering it, is often the problem. Not something taught in school. The point is Godís supplies are before us just not always reachable with a lack of knowledge. God wants to give people the knowledge of supplies and hope. Not just the simple hand out but the ability to restore one community and people to a right relationship with Him. It begins with prayer and ends before the throne of God. Restoration of spiritual life begins and continues through out eternity. Even with prayer sometimes hope seems lost, but it is always Godís time table of supply and need, so do not loose hope. Godís supply is coming.

People know the goodness of God after coming through disaster, and knowing they survived. The stories that come from devastation only testify of the greatness of God and his supply in the hour of need. Let us not ignore the stories of Godís greatness of supply. Godís supply comes when no hope seems available. Let us not forget the things God does in the storms in others lives as well as our own.

Dear Heavenly Father remind us of your unending supply of spirituality that is often displayed through physical human needs being meet. May your supply be unending in the needs of his people. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
