1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion. What can we say when looking for proof of information so incline it is right in the word of God. Who is Jesus, he was a man that went to the cross because of who he was as God's only begotten Son, but he also was a man that had proven his power time and time again to the people. When I look at our country and I see the crisis we are in, and think what is next, I do not want to even imagine at this point, or even think about. Jesus drawed a crowd like no one in that century perhaps had seen before. He had power in his word, for even the lame walked. It is the error of our day when man thinks his power is not destructible, but what if Christ walked right now on the earth as he did after the rebuilding of the Temple? What if such miracles were seen today in such fashion, would we be drawn to this person. I will say this, our nation has been drawn to a President in the last four years with no miracles, and no agenda but what he sees is right when looking at what he can see only by posiitive words. I think whether President Trump had been in office it might of happen anyway with Cov-19. People are tired and frustrated with restriction that they never experienced before. The idea of staying home and go no where is foreign to the American dream. Yet was Jesus foreign to Israel belief, faith, ideas, and miracles?
Even as a student of God's word I look at the image of Christ as drawing that crowd in a fashion not resembling anything ever seen in the Holy Land Of Israel. Reporters were around the day that a house was packed with people, and four friends decide to get on the roof and tear it off to lower their friend down for healing. I wonder what the descent down into the crowd was like for the cripple, but what was the words of Jesus like even more. Jesus said your sins are forgiven. The crowd skeptical in their reactions and spirit, that Jesus asked is it easier to say one's sins are forgiven or to say to this man pick up your mat and walk. Now imagine the reporters and the Pharisees reaction. Imagine those around looking into these things Jesus not only said but did. Was it enough for some to believe?
Which is easier for Christ to say, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do", hanging on a cross after being beaten, or to rise again as Christ did from a tomb? President flexed his muscles in yesterday action for the cost of one lady's life, to prove a point to Congress about his power. What we fail to see is if his words are anywhere true at all, we failing as Americans, if they are lies because of our constitution, then we failing as Americans, and the world is watching Americans fail. Christ never failed while he walked the earth, people failed to have faith, trust, hope, love, compassion, until the resurrection happen. When that resurrection came there was new life in the disciples heart and soul and over 500 people who also seen Jesus alive after his crucifixion and death.
They found that they were forgiveness, and they found they had hope. They found they had what should of been denied them when he came up out of the tomb. Yet Jesus was still calling his disciples by name. Tell them to feed the sheep, telling them to feed the lambs, and telling them to feed the herd of God. Do we have mercy or rage today. I have not decide how I feel about the situation in our land, but I know God knows and sees all that is happening in our land. He see the cry of children and the cry of people of the injustice in our land. Yet he also sees the mercy bestow on Americans with stimulus package, As a "Christian nation" we see a nation that lost there way from God and their way from the founding principals of our land. God tells us our nation is one of the heads of the four beast And I cry, then why is our nation suffering at this time. It growing pains of our situation, and growing pains of those not knowing there is hope in faith, first hope of forgiveness and healing of our land, if our land will only turn to God once more. Jesus is still calling to his people to tell the good story of his love and mercy, and the crowd that surround him while he walked this earth. His message is He is alive, and he still heals, delivers and most of all forgives, all that will come to him.
Dear Heavenly Father, at almost midnight I find myself writing this devotion to share with our country and around the world, and find myself seeing the hope only you can bring through faith, forgiveness, and healing by your hand, when we repent, seek you and trust in you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study:1 Corinthians 15:1-10 KJV
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
