Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisPsalms 122:1-9 KJV
(1) A Song of degrees of David. I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.
(2) Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
(3) Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:
(4) Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD.
(5) For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
(6) Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
(7) Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
(8) For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
(9) Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.

The large church of modern world is busted up in to many groups of people all coming together in one accord to worship God (Father, Son, And Holy Spirit. Many small church feel the pain of expansion as their church flood with people on a Sunday morning. All coming together to worship, but not having always the advantage of larger groups. Yet some willing to accommodate to different people and others setting a standard of worship. The standard set of the Christian church is the word of God is to be taught. The word being Jesus. Here we are in Psalms teaching about the word fo God. Most of scripture talks about about Jewish people until the ushering in of the Gentile comes. Simple fact is the Gentile nation was always welcome at the temple just not in the inner courts. Jerusalem was like a metropolitan area of our day. The Palace and the temple of God sitting on a hill, and people coming into the city of Jerusalem that sitting on a hill, to both places the temple and the palace for variety of reason. Some to pay homage to the palace and others to the temple or both. The temple being the largest gathering place of the Jewish people to worship. Small towns and village having small synagogues for every day worship for local towns people. Yet if you lived in Jerusalem or visited Jerusalem you went to the temple. Though in David day the Temple was not built, there was a place to worship God. Solomon would build the Temple for God. God house would be established under His throne. Jerusalem being the city of God. Yet through out history the palace did not always reflect a godly place. Yet the temple would be a house of God. The ark the held the testimonies would be brought into the city of Jerusalem during David reign. The Tabernacle a place to worship God had survived since the time of the wilderness.
David would enter the tabernacle of praise. Though it says the temple it really talking about tent/tabernacle of God. The house of God was only a tent while David house was made of cedar. David desired to build a house for God, but God said he had killed to many people to build his house. Despite your love for God there are times when your witness is not a blessing to others. Especially when you claimed faith during times of what is still classified as justifiable sin. War is justified when under attack. Yet even so it breaks the law of God. It is a miracle to me that Moses and Aaron were allowed to make the tabernacle with blood shed at the time of the golden calf. Yet even so God had a place among the people of Israel. First began with a cloud by day and fire by night. Then the tabernacle came. Moses would enter into the tabernacle and talk to God, and come out with his face so shiny that he had to wear a veil. It is hard to fully understand but David testimony was damaged by war. Yet even though David war campaign brough peace to Israel, it still left people angry with loss of life. David was still man’s choice and God’s anointed choice as a ruler over Israel, but he was not the one to build the house of God. David still went and enter the temple to worship and played his harp with the musicians. God did not reject David position as a king only his position to rule in the temple.
David heart cry was let us go to the house of the Lord. Today on Sunday morning, there is snow on the ground in some areas, so check the snow schedule for your church. Some will not be going to the house of the Lord this morning, but will your house become a house of prayer. Will house become a place of worship for a few minutes as a temporary place of worship, or a permanent place of worship. The true worshipper of God worship in Spirit and in truth according to John 4. David worship was in the open field tending his father flock as a boy, in the tabernacle as a man and on the battlefield of war. David did not fail to pray or sing the praises of His God. Are you worship God today in a church or in your home, it matters not. The main thing is to take time to listen to God, read his word and know of God’s salvation plan through Christ Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father as we praise your name this morning this is remember to worship you where ever we are. Even when the temple/church is not present. Enable our hearts to soar with your Spirit in worship and in truth. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
