A Righteous Man Vs. A Sinful Man 1/24/2017
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 Timothy 1:1-14 KJV
(1) Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
(2) Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
(3) As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
(4) Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
(5) Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
(6) From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
(7) Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
(8) But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
(9) Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
(10) For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
(11) According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
(12) And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
(13) Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
(14) And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. |
Sin is a plague it keeps one from being free from the law. Yet does a righteous man ever sin or make mistakes? That is the whole problem with the idea of human righteousness. Our leaders are held with such high degree, that one mistake or ten crimes might still be okay. Where is the line drawn, with who is justified despite the law. God calls a man righteous due to faith in Christ Jesus. Yet the law may condemn a person of faith actions. How can a person of faith have sin in their life. It call the fact that no one is perfect, it not a lack of the Holy Spirit conviction. Cain had belief but was disobedience to abandonment of God. Jonah was righteous, but failed to obey God. Jonah got a second chance.
There are crimes committed and money exchanged among the wealthy. The underdog is beaten down to where if they tell, no one would believe them. Society is deprived when truth no longer works and crimes that destroy the human soul and spirit is allowed to reign. God’s word says have nothing to do with the lawbreakers but only the righteous. Yet we are taught to go the Zacheus, thief on the cross that believes who Christ is and Rahab the harlot of faith. All three looking for away out of their sin. Thief most would of thought it was to late until Jesus said you will be with me in paradise. Zacheus was convicted to go and repay, and Rahab was looking for protection and away out of the city when it fell.
When it comes to the New Testament vs. the Old Testament you get daily living with faith in God and in the New Testament you get living with God’s Son to his death and beyond, following the ministry of Jesus into ministry of God’s Spirit has for you. Being the servants of the Gospel and not just people of faith in ordinary living. Paul testimony only gives a small clue about his daily life before he followed Jesus and a small glimpse of life after words of the persecution of Paul. Yet what we do not see is the daily living of every day believers beyond Acts. Instead there are letters written to the church about faith and staying away from sin. Not how this works out in one’s life, beyond the dos and don’t of faithful living unto God. The Old Testament brings out the humanity of the believer, The time of the Holy is a time of perfection being spoken of, but few understand that there is much imperfection left in the believer. The ability to sin is not remove from human heart, only the ability not to sin against God. The establishment of faith is what makes on righteous, but not free from human law. Human law defining who can get away with what because of their wealth or because of the truth. Faith is inner soul of man, the hope not to sin because of rash behavior. The hope that Holy Spirit will warn us like Cain, with us having different outcome then Cain.
God’s hope for his people is for them not to sin against him as Adam and Eve did. Yet God’s know He created imperfect. Our humanity failing even our common sense sometimes. Yet few people will admit their failings. Yet the Gospel is about spreading love and not endless genealogy, It not about who were you once, but are you saved and living for Jesus by faith. Simple instruction to trust and obey Jesus today and forever, to spread the gospel of faith, and to live with or without persecution. Living in the time we are in for Jesus, whether at peace or at war. Spreading the love and faith of God. To be good citizens of the law, unless it breaks the law of faith.
Dear Heavenly Father help us to live according to your word in faith first in Christ Jesus, and then obedience to righteous living by fleeing sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

(14) That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
(15) Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
(16) Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
(17) Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
(18) That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
(19) Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
