Peaceful Word But Troubling

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 14:5-12 KJV
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

John 14:27-31 KJV
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

I often reexaming scripture upon other passage for the simple reason clarity of scripture. Scripture should back scripture and when it does not there must be a reason why. It either describe a spiritual truth, or spiritual reality that can not be seen from the naked eye. These truth can be a bit confusing to a new believer and even an old believer if not put into perspective of the truth. If you never been a cat owner you will never understand a cat has the ability to plead/beg for his food only for hour later act as if he king or queen of the house and what right do you have to invade my territory or space for the moment. the attitude and action maybe such that the cat seems to have dual role in the home as servant, and king. A true king never begs or pleads he commands in a way that makes people want to be subject to him. Yet true leadership is never one that demands without a false alternative that has its own consequences. For example President Joe Biden has repeatly asked people to wear mask, just like all our leaders are doing. The only consequence for not doing so, is causing the pandemic to become worse. When a group of people work together they can accomplish anything. What is the goaled of someone not in compliance it simple to cause disruption and harm to others, and these are the people that do not wear mask.It that simple really. Yet it is also a hard rule to obey. I jumped out of the car the other day ran into the bread store and got out of there only to realize I did not have to take off my mask. How can this happen after a year of mask wearing. It simple our mind does not forget when we did not have to wear one. Our mindset still in the stone ages and not the present. It is a hard place to define change. It how long does it take to remember new passwords after a change, for it to be the new password in mindset only.

Today as we look at our devotion scripture reading, several things is noted in scripture. This chapter in John is taken before Jesus' crucifixion and before the garden. It is a discourse of things Jesus taught his disciples before the cross. We are called to look from the begining of John chapter one as Jesus being the word of God from the begining. Even without personality of his own, because of Jesus is the word of God being a part of God, yet still an individual. The very word being the spoken aspect of God with authority over God because God has given his very word authority over himself, as well as being subject to God because God is able to control his word. Then his word becomes human flesh, with God's spirit within the flesh, making him God. Yet no other man is God in this since but Jesus. Made of woman and God. God being not a physical daddy in the physical since, but that the power of the Holy Spirit came by his word to create a being in Mary. Woman being a representative of being first created in heaven, but all other women created on earth. It like the term African American. Person born in America with African heritage. Or American citizen born in Africa. Eve was not a perfect woman, she sinned against God's word and got kicked from heaven. Yet her homeplace origin was heaven, though heritage is of earth because of being created from man. Woman would encompass a man in Jeremiah, explained now with the conception of the Messiah. Jesus being the very part of God that is both word and spirit and yet created in the image of man by woman ability be apart of the process through fertilization by God's word. Complex a little, but not really. It only a break down of one event. I might lost you but, basically that how Jesus becomes lower then the angels, subject to the will of God for a time period. Yet is from heaven, and is in heaven after the resurrection, to sit in heavenly places with God the Father and Holy Spirit.

Did I get it all in there at the end of the paragraph I am hoping. Becaues Jesus is ministering to his disciples and claims equality with the Father starting at chapter 8 of John and going into chapter 10 where we see this again and now in fourteen claiming his equality with the Father and because disciples had seen Jesus, disciples have seen the Father. When Christ is raised he is given incarnated body, one not for destruction, though the scars of earth is still there.

Now I want you think on this if you followed me through Mark and the crucifixion you know the disciples were being prepared for Jesus to be put to death. At this point the disciples knew Jesus was in trouble and yet he peacefully teaching his disciples as if nothing is wrong, yet his words can be disturbing with understanding of events before the teaching. If we look from the criminal law point of view and not from Biblical principal. People come from many different backgrounds that read scripture and are convicted to believe, yet at what point do they understand who Jesus is. The Christian faith in general dictates Jesus is more then man but God incarnated deity. The pagan world sees a perhaps a god being created through a possible resurrection if they can believe in a resurrection. The atheist looks and see another dangerous cult arising from their ideology of mythology. Others that are believers in God might see Jesus as human but never get to spiritual aspects of who Jesus is as the Christians claim. If Jesus came as a baby this century who would have believed it, but consider right off a false religion rising up. I can only imagine the skeptics at the time of Christ and the Roman Empire and empires that followed. Christian empire rising with faith and dying because of lack of faith or forget to pass the truth of Christ to the next generation, because of lack of communication because of distraction and breakdown from the family unit not to share their faith out of fear in some place because of persecution and other places they not sure if they really believe the old story of Jesus and his love.

Jesus claims his innocents to sin because he says the prince of this world is not in him. The prince being Satan, or sin. He has to go to the cross because of the Father's will, and obedience to his Father command, to take up his cross and die for the sins of the world. Now John does not say it that way. What Jesus says in the book of John is this: "And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence".This is John 14:29-31. Here is talks as if the disciples understand not what is happening, but it hard to imagine they can not understand something admissed because of the insurrection. Is Judas, the betrayer, the only one following in regards to what is fixing to happen. Judas was fixing to depart or may of even depart at this point of teaching. Judas discourse is what skipped because it was talked about yesterday lesson. This part is probably right when Jesus is still at the table for the Last Supper and talking with the disciples. Perhaps the disciples understood not Jesus was not arrest because he was not arrested right after insurrection. Jesus was after all in broad daylight before the religious leaders and the Roman government. Jesus in the next two chapters would continue to talk to his disciple on his way to the garden to pray. So he says "lets rise and go hence".

The unraveling of the final discourse to his disciples during the last night. The words of comfort and not stress, and yet a hint of what is to come. Again explaining who he is to the disciples. Yet they see the humanity of Christ as a great teacher or prophet and not truly all that he is, even though it is taught to them. The words disturbing to you? What would you say to your children or family/friends before an arrest if you knew what and who was coming, would it be peace or anger. Anger at the authority perhaps or the situation maybe. Yet none of that is seen in Jesus. Only the hope and comfort coming by the Holy Spirit.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to understand who all that your Son is, not just as human flesh, but the word with you, under your authority and authority over you. That your word alone has power and authority, but with you authority came less power for your design of purpose to be less then ministering angels in heaven for a time. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Looking for first part of chapter John 14 it is in 2/23/2021. in this redition of the story.

Continual Scripture Study: Hebrews 2:5-13 KJV
5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
