Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Hebrews 2:1-18 KJV
1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

It is time to pay attention and reflect on the things we have heard and in this case read. "every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence reward", how can you escape if you continue to "neglect a great salvation" spoken first by God and "confirmed unto us by them that heard him". Are you sliding on thin ice, that it would be easy to slip and fall. For ice skater slipping on ice is part of their daily trial and error, Their goaled is not to fall, but when they do, hopefully not to injury. When a believer falls to their knees, hopefully for their healing and to humble them to a place of understanding God is above and man is God's servant, even when in disobedience to him. Disobedience only teach others not to do likewise, or hopefully so. Obedience in the hopes to be like Christ, in meekness and humility. God is witness of his own power and might. Through his creation he make us a witness of his power too. Why if we can view God's power through things he makes do we walk on glass floors seeing the core of the earth on fire with veins of volcano fire and ash only to not fear the Lord of heaven of the reality of a hell if we repent not.

Journey are interesting they take a man either further then he wished to walk, or even to things he rather not see, but also is a place of beauty and even times of rest. I sit at home and contemplate the reality of life journey and the miracles within the journey alone. Some things so readily explained away and others things we never give glory and honor to God for, though we understand his divine intervention and creation along life journey. He is a captain of our salvation if we will receive it. Yet to neglect God's salvation is to ask, why, when He himself came as a humble servant to mankind in the form of baby. He took on the people that suppose to be of faith in Him, and with the cross and resurrection divided the veil that separated God from man, to become High Priest once more to the world and reconcile himself to all people. He himself declaring forgive them, why because he showed them he could endure temptation and overcome death himself. He could handle what man did to him. I do not think man deals with persecution the way God does.

Is man as equally strong as Christ through persecution. Are we able to keep from hating in the agony of pain and torment, the answer is most likely not. Our anger comes out in the screams of torment, and railings of pain. To say you can take 40 lashes without yelling would be like saying you have no sensation within your body for pain. Even a Christian stubbing his simple little toe has a few choice words. Power of God can allow you to handle the torment of the enemy, but are willing to trust God. There must come a time of realization for one's humanity. Jesus needed no release from his torment but cried Father forgive them. Did he not walk into the pit of hell to set the captives free.(Ephesians 4:9).

Christ never wanted us to be beaten, or torture for doing good as he would, but he understood it would happen. I watched half a movie on Ghandi, and the thing that disturbed me maybe the most is what he said to his people concerning persecution, that even the persecuters would walk away if he would just take their punishment, by doing so one would gain them, even if it took his life. Even the world imitates what Christ did to those that persecuted him. The idea lost in our generation the need for suffering and pain lost with our generation because of the laws we have.

Who is man that God is mindful of him, and comes to earth and lays his life down has a man for mankind to pay the price of original sin that caused original separation between God and man. The difference between what Ghandi endured and Christ is simple, Christ did it because of who he was to end the division between the separation between God and man. Ghandi did it to end the division between the government of the land of the hindu people. Let this sink in for a moment is what we do for God is it to take away division between God and man. Or is the God claiming to take away the injustice between his people and governments through his only begotten Son Jesus' suffering or for both.

Christ did not come to overthrow man's government for the need of laws for everyone was still needed. Christ came to tear down first the wall of division between himself and man. To say I know how you feel to be tempted, and to suffer from your yielding to temptation. Yet first let bring down this barrier between us so we can talk. He took up his cross and died for our sins, that cross being the altar for sin and his death and resurrection burying our sin and to be rise us both out of the grave, if we believe and confess our sins, he is just to forgives us and he begins to communicate with us. No longer about sin in our life, but the things he is doing in the world and how we can help make it a better place. How we can love and teach sacrifice when necessary ot overcome.

Dear Heavenly Father you mindful of us because of your great love for us. Help us to understand your love through the cross of Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Ephesians 4:8-10 KJV
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
