Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalms 119:129-136 KJV
129 PE. Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
131 I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments.
132 Look thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those that love thy name.
133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
134 Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.
135 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes.
136 Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.

If you listen to testimonies of other believers and knew their words were true as they shared their struggle of their faith, as well as trusting in God alone, you know the power of God has worked in the life of those believers. Our struggles are normal daily struggles of being human. Knowing that sin often lurks at the door waiting to devour, but through faith we learn of God's grace and deliverance through Christ Jesus our Lord. David wrote Psalms 119 it is the longest chapter in the Bible. I choose verses 129-136 because it speaks of faith and the word of God gives light and understanding to the soul of man. Humanity desire truth, but often never receives it without evidence without witness without proof of truth. God's word is old but it also as value because it is a book of many stories and many stories of faith that can be handed down. From Old to New Testament we fine the books of adventure, romance, mystery, war and intrigue. People living life and testimony of the thing God did for them because of obedience to him and faith. Then there are stories of when man failed to obey God and the consequences of it. The greatest testimony of scripture which came after David time but would be Jesus Christ.

The point is simple the testimony of faith are meant to be shared, the testimony of sin is to be closed upon repentance. We see perfect men of faith because their sins are washed away by the blood of the Lamb. who is Christ. Christ taking the atonement of our sin on his shoulders by God discontining the sin offering and exchanging it for the sacrifice of Jesus. Apostle Paul through his letters would testify of Christ but also testified of Old Testament scripture. Both are important for it tells the origins of faith and the testimony of the price Jesus paid for us. Yet there is more to the testimony of Jesus then Paul declares in his letters, we have Jesus testimony in the four Gospels and the power of God working in his life because He is the only begotten Son of God. The other Apostle letters we have hold ot the truth of the Gospel and the hope of faith in Christ Jesus.

Do you desire God's word and his commandments. Would you say you pant after God? David the writer of this Psalm definitely longed after the movement of God's Spirit and his commandments working in his life, because he desired to obey God's truth and to follow in God's footsteps. The law of God never change it is the law of love. Are we hungry for God's mercy and grace. Do we delight in his love and mercy. Are we carrying our own testimony of deliverance and mercy of God and sharing it along with the Gospel of faith in Christ Jesus. What about the testimony of the Old Testament as well. Christ is the most important message shared, but the Bible is a story of hope and testimony of Jesus. Devil does not like us sharing the word of God or the testimony of Jesus. He is angry and is getting angrier by the day. Yet we do not quit sharing even if it not online. The testimony of faith continues in the hope that it draw others ot faith in Christ. When we fail and we know we will, we humble bow knowing God's mercy and grace for each of us needs to be known so others that are falling can know God grace is for them too because they are human like you and I. We only have to choose to follow God's way to see God's mercy in our life. David found mercy despite his failings and found victory by the power of God's will in his life. Can you be candle light for Jesus.

The angel in Revelation that spoke to John declare he had the testimony of Jesus and worshipped God. Told John that the spirit of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. As God reveals himself through prophecy, through Christ, through mercy, grace, deliverance in our life are we sharing the testimony of Jesus? Is our life a witness of our faith? Sometimes it not, we are human, but that too is a part of our testimony, because it tells we hope for better things yet to come in our life. As we study the stories of faith we are inspired to press on for Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to carry your testimony in our hearts and share it with others for this your will of the believer. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Revelation 12:17 KJV And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 19:10 KJV And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
