Feed My Sheep
2/03/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 21:14-17 KJV
14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

I watch to many Youtube videos of animals if that is possible, from tiny puppies and kitties to the new born lambs that need bottle feeding until they are old enough to feed themselves because their mother either can not or something has happened to them. As believers in Christ we have a responsibly to feed God's heritage. Yet some are to young to feed themselves much less anyone else. A baby animal only makes a fine meal for a wolf or perhaps only a snack for a wolf. The experienced believe know the difference between a wolf and minister, but did you know the wolf knows too. Who is responsible for teaching newborns of faith. We know God will teach all newborns about him, but we too have a responsibility. The confirmation from a teacher or minister often the only thing need for a young believer. It nice when it not because of gossip, but it is the pure unadulterate Spirit of God that speaks by the ministers words, about the things a younger believer is understanding.

The stocking of our government technology is probably the thing that is driving our nation more nuts then a fruity cereal. The fact is it can tell a person through advertisement where the best deals are and at the same time show you something you looked up already and do not want repeating it several times a day. It worse then the vain repetition of our politicians. Yet the technology can also be used for mind control as being a pro you should do this, because it is a prophetic suggestion that you would succeed greatly at this or that. It is worse then trickery of taping device to appear like a voice from heaven.

It is crazy how tricky and deception can effect the mind of even the best of saints, but it will not fool a believer of maturity. It is the technology of the scooby do world that causes mystery but in the adult world even death. I give this message of love to you for a purpose. Jesus desires Peter to feed his lambs. This is not just a flock of baby sheep, this is a flock of sheep/people. Peter has to be asked if he love Jesus before he obeys Christ in feeding of the sheep. Never should anyone support trickery. Ministry should be by the wooing of God and not the wooing of man. Jesus asked Peter to feed His sheep. The Holy Spirit in a vision told Peter he was going to speak to a gentile man about Jesus before it happened in Acts 10. A minister should never be lead by another minister or teacher. He should be lead by the Holy Spirit.

It is a good that Christ asked Peter to feed his sheep. He had to pass the earthly visible leadership to someone and it was Peter. John and the disciple were equal as teachers and apostleship, but they needed a spokesman, a man of faith, endurance, who knew and understood doubts, fear, and most of all who Christ is. Christ did not use any deception but spoke plainly in the language that the disciple understood from his teaching on sheep. Instructed Peter to feed his sheep and by what condition must be applied to feeding of the sheep, it would be the condition if he loved Jesus.

Do you love Jesus? Do you love Jesus enough to share his word with the sheep and lambs. No trickery or deception in truth. Truth is what needs to be taught to God's children. The devil sits in nice suits and apparrel telling lies to the people of God. Yet God's people feed their people with truth. God's people teach because they want the children of God to succeed in faith and life, but they must have love for the sheep. Elders know the cost of loosing a sheep and lambs to wolves, but it can be because of the loosing of sheep that they teach but because of the love they have for the sheep. Truth is there will always be sheep killed by wolves, there will always be a need for teachers and ministers of faith to love the flock of God. To care for the sheep as if they were their own and in a way they are theirs for they are brother and sisters of faith.

Baby christians need to be bottle feed like lambs, and sheep only need to hear the world of truth and the warning of the attacks of the enemy and prophecy of hope. Yet the lambs need the meat chopped up and minced to eat in small portions and sheep need a full course meal of fruit, veggies, meat and desert. Lambs are able to feed off of adult plate just fine, for the Holy Spirit does his job, but if you starve the sheep that needs the full plate of food, they are starved and remain lambs for slaughter. Are you feeding God's heritage with knowledge of who Christ is. On the front page of this website for February 2020 is a thing about a super bowl party and the way the church can incorporate a little fun for their young people and teach them at the same time about Christian fellowship. If we teach out young people about how to have fun, they will know the difference if they get in a situation that is not of God, they will know the difference of what is expected and what is consider clean fun. No need to dirty your wool in the filth of the world to enjoy life. Yet at the same time, sometimes lambs are going to play in mud but the mother lamb cleans her baby up and the Father, will you don't want to tangle with his horns.

The truth of it all do you love the sheep world enough to teach truth in all areas and aspects of life and using the Bible as a guide. Paul made tents with other believers, and other believers taught faith. How are you teaching about faith, are you teaching only scripture, or you interacting with them over a meal as Christ did, or encouraging them to toss a fishing net on the otherside of the boat. What about a boat ride across the sea/lake with Jesus. What about a stroll on city sidewalks and grassy fields for Jesus. There things Jesus did with his disciples that we even never consider as being part of his ministry. Are you of faith and are you going to move forward in faith, knowing to teach does not mean you always have to be sitting in a pew and or standing behind a pulpit acting like a preacher or a teacher. No teachers and ministers behind pulpits are necessary, but it not the only call. There use to be skating rinks with Christian skate night and music. What about a Christian dance, oh God forbid if you tell the elders about a dance hundred years ago in some circles and still true today in others. It about teaching our lambs the way to treat woman and men with respect with the principals of God for daily living. I not talking a keg party, though Jesus went to a keg party of wine for a wedding. It does not say if he drank the wine and got drunk. He just made more wine through a miracle. Beware of those that take one wedding feast and try and say it okay to have a drinking party. God's word also talks about drunkness being a sin. Jesus did also teach about having a picnic with fish and bread. How we draw the line should be Biblical based and use the Bible to teach the difference about faith, socializing and hope. There is time for evanglism only and time of demonstrating faith. Jesus did both through out his ministry. Yet we close our eyes to how Jesus feed the sheep when it comes to socialization. In his day there was no tv, only story telling, plays and criers in the street.

What is Jesus doing? He interacts with the public in the way common to that day and time, and even goes to the temple for worship. If we separate Jesus ministry as only teaching truth and wisdom we have church service. If we look at Christ ministry in the since of the open field we have fellowship. Yet we can not abide only in fellowship, we need the teaching of Christ shared through the telling of the old old story. This chapter is a continuation of yesterday lesson out of John 21, because the nets are full needing the altar, but also the fellowship of a good meal.

Where are you today and what have you need of. Do you need time of rejoicing and dining on manna of God's word or do you need fellowship because your at home with no life beyond the couch. If the church can open their doors for fellowship there be less naughtiness in our city streets and country back roads. Consider this it can help the young and the old, join the forces of God and teach, because you love God's people. People teaching people with one leader call the minister to help sit some guidelines.

Dear Heavenly Father teach your people how necessary fellowship is for feeding of the sheep, but also instructing the sheep about your word. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

1 Peter 4:11 KJV
4 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 5:2-3 KJV
2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
