Do You Love Jesus
02/29/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

John 21:14-17 KJV
(14) This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
(15) So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
(16) He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
(17) He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

The locked door of empty church means another empty restaurant of weekly and mid weekly juice, bread and meat. Another door shut where the grapes are sent to the juicer to be drained of its excess love, hope, faith is allowed to remain and whatever not left at the door is then carried hope to be put on the shelf tell the following week, unless one obeys the Lord. Obeying the Lord to feed his lambs in the field, and his sheep. One might be feeding the church behind the doors, but what about the sheep in the open field of life.

I do not doubt that the temples in Jesus’ day had food pantries for the local churches later did. The way the churches were started were based on the temple set ups and organizations. After all the disciples would still report back to Jerusalem for a time. Yet what about feeding the people in the field as Jesus did with the five loaves and two fishes, taking only what one person had and multiplying it. He not only demonstrated this once but twice and yet he often feed his disciples with their own catching by telling them to drop that net down on the other side, after catching nothing all night or the time he told Peter to go catch a fish and open its mouth and Peter pulled to drachma’s out, which were coins for Rome. The point being Jesus needed not the money of work, he knew where all the treasure were, that was in the sea. He chose to do his Father‘s business knowing where to get what he needed else where, and providing what was given him to feed the poor and needy of this world. To feed them both from His Father‘s table and the food table necessary to keep one from fainting. Yet more ministers worry where the next meal is coming from or the coins for their bills. God‘s store house is full of buried treasure, and treasure in the hands willing to give it for the work of the Lord. Yet people have starved doing the work of the Lord, sacrificing all they had to please God. All they had to feed the lambs and sheep of the field was their only daily provision from God.

If the church is in abundance then the church needs to supply to others, when it going through the lean years it need to be filled up. The workers of the harvest have to learn to adjust those belt loops of their pants, and skirts to meet the needs of both the flock and the lambs. Yet it be better if they just placed a elastic waist band in their clothes so they will decrease and increase on its own. Less you have to worry about the better, because the lambs of the field are going to be feed first if it nothing but milk of the word and the milk of the cow, until the goats are willing to make their sacrifice to feed their lambs and sheep in their fields of harvest. It simple really the Sunday school teachers of this world have always given freely and the church ministers have always given for wealth some forgetting that that money is for services the render and their needs.

As minister around the globe give freely of God’s word on social media some of the harvest is making its way to the church doors in search for truth, and love. Some churches are more prepared then others to meet the need of the world searching for streets of pure gold and riches untold on their dinner plate. No church can be everywhere, they are not God, but each church ready to meet the call of God will have a dinner waiting for the people or searching for them on the streets to beckon them in. The church bells ring and the door bell rings, and it is supper time at the old church house.

Yet there is the empty church with the table of God is closed and no altar found for repentance. The empty church once feed the lambs and the sheep of its town. No one realizing the value of the church until the doors were closed. The other day I heard where another minister was offering his devotions for free through mail, and all I could think is this guy is a published author and he knows the value of gold of what he gives out. Yet he is opting to give it freely for the Lord. We need more minister willing to give to the lambs and sheep of the world. Some choosing to post a daily verse on their social media and others a whole meal, free to share to others around the globe. Some setting up websites to feed their fan clubs, yet the error comes, when it all about the person and no longer about Jesus. We need the world to see the value of Jesus and his message to the world. The message of love, hope and the cross. It time for the sheep and lambs of this world be able to hear the Gospel without having to hunt for what it is all about.

Though I mention love it seems I have left it out, for only one purpose because without loving God and Christ first you never will be able to pass the love on to the lambs and sheep of the field. If you love Jesus you will want to pass it on. It is the message that when passed fills oneself up as well. It like a starving pastor with a food pantry better not be hungry any more if there is food n the shelf after the last person gather food for the day.

Take the faith off the shelf and pass it beyond the church doors today. God supply is their even before one ask. Jesus just asked his disciples to feed his sheep. The work for the hands that feed the body is there in the city streets, but the need for food of the soul is in short supply when no one shares. One’s cup can not over flow if you never give what Jesus shared with you. God can fill a cup of coffee or allow it to overflow and it depends on you. The grapes are ready for the juicing, are you willing to pour out God love for you and others by supplying the world with the God’s love. There sheep not of the church world that are wanting to dine, are you going to share Christ love today??

Dear Heavenly Father help us to fill our plates that we will be able to share from, not only giving of scrapes but the steak on the grill and the milk and juice of faith. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
