God Loved Us First
02/02/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

1 John 4:19-21 KJV
(19) We love him, because he first loved us.
(20) If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
(21) And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Man is taught to love from God. Man did not create love or was love himself. In fact man came from the dust of the ground and not from God but created by God. Created by love. Created in image and likeness of God and given a living soul. Though man was created by love, man ways were evil, by man’s choice to be in disobedience to God. Our direct disobedience to God showing our disrespect for God’s judgment and protection. God teaches us to love other as ourselves. Yet not everyone has compassion back. If a person can love man, then he can learn to love God who he has not seen. If man can learn to love people not so caring and hurtful at times, then we can love a God who is perfect and right all the time.

God gave man a job in his garden to teach him what love was. He gave him a task of naming the animals. Yet warned man not to eat from one tree for he would then have the knowledge of good and evil if he did. The knowledge of good and evil gives man a choice to do good or to do evil. Paradise had no room for evil or disobedience to God. Man desire to get rid of evil is only to destroy himself has well or is it only to destroy what seems worse types of evil. Or is man tolerant of evil among his own group hoping love will win out over evil ways of a brother or sister.

To love as God loved us is to kick sin of disobedience of our laws out of the world we live in and place them in a place we created for them called jail. Yet a new evil exist when man choose to look the other way when his brother sins because of God’s grace. God’s grace is not tolerant of sin, but a chance for a person to change. To do good not to continue in evil way. When one becomes tolerant of evil, one says that sin okay. To forgive is divine, yet there is condition for change or do we forgive seventy times seven. If a killer kills seven times and you justify the killing seven times, and he quits did justification work, but if killing seven times only causes someone to kill the eighth time for no good reason, then what justice is that. Love is not tolerance to evil. It never was because it causes terrorism in the heart of man. To love is not to justify evil but to condemn it. God condemned evil. God judges evil, even if he tolerant for a time to it. Tolerant for change of man, but no tolerant to evil. Giving man time to change. God’s way is putting sin from him. Not allowing it to reign. That why evil only arise for a time, before final destruction.

To love man first comes with a price of acceptance we all make mistakes, but a choice to agree to rules. Our ability to love God comes with the choice God’s way is best. It comes to surrendering our evil ways to God’s ways. To loving a God who created us to live with Him, but cast us out because of sin. To love God back for not tolerating sin. To love God back for not tolerating evil. God loved man enough to turn him over to it to teach man what love was, freedom of choice to do it God’s way or the deceiver. Can you love a God you can not see, Can you love your brother that can you see. Can you love the person who sins against you despite an agreement to a law. Can you love a God who establish law that Adam felt the right to disobey.

Dear Heavenly Father your way is best, but often not seeable to man because of his choices. Help man to first love who he can see and learn to love you who he can not see. To love because of your tolerance for his imperfect to gain the right to be in authority over man’s life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
