God's Story: Lesson 9 12/09/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 1:26-38 KJV
26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Where will we go after examing this story after thirteen and half years. It is easy the conception part, because when we began God's story we began with God hovering over the earth and his shadow of God covering the earth and his word bringing forth light and dark as Day and Night. Now as we study the Christmas story the part of God's story of God telling how Mary would be a virgin and she would conceive a child in her womb, and bring forth a son and call him Jesus. Who tells Mary, an angel name Gabriel. Mary ask how can this be, she had not been with a man. Knowing the details of the relationship she need to have in order to become pregnant. Most people are curious about the conception part of Christ but few really think on it beyond God said it would be and it was. Let us look at conception of Christ. Scientific impossibility still today. With God all things are possible. If you can believe the creation of the earth, then you can believe in the virgin birth. Can you take what you see with science and say if this can be unfallible proof of miracle of life, as well as the reality of a shadow, the ability of creating from nothing tangible is impossible to us, but God impossible is tangible to the point of being able to acknowledge existence of life form and history of Christ and yet some deny his coming. One can not show an atheist creation from God's word, without being able to see a process. Yet despite that small fact, one will never convince atheist of the virgin birth or the creation of the earth, but it does not make it less so. Nor impossible. Elizabeth conceiving in old age is tangible possibility by science today, Mary's conceiving a child is not. That were atheist and believer split in the Christmas story. That is one place it takes faith to believe. The first man and woman God created he formed out of the dust of the earth. If I go to a river where clay is found, sit and mold a man or woman, I will guarantee it will not began to walk around even if I take oxygen and place it on the man. Man can not create life without sperm and an egg. There was some work on creating only through DNA but I do not think that research can completely support itself still without sperm and egg being part of the process.
Now we are in Bible days and it says God's power would overshadow Mary. I picture this much like original creation when God hover over the earth, the power is not the overshadowing, but the power of God is in the Spirit of God that overshadow her, who has full power to do the impossible. Ever had someone stand over you when you doing work, their power to correct you is in their voice. However the voice has no power but words might, if it causes you to change what you were doing. The over shadowing the ray of power from God itself only dispersed by his word by his Spirit, the power coming not from the shadow itself but the actual word of God. The same way he brought forth light and divided the darkness from it. My shadow has no power but to scare someone. My shadow can do nothing beyond the thinking process of human mind if it scared you. Peter Pan shadow seem to have a life of its own and needed to be sewn on. God's shadow, symbol of God's protection from his power and yet his power being used in one's life as he over shadows. Mary no doubt felt God's presence, but there was no physical contact beyond his words to conceive. His power to create with words and not physical molding with hands. This process of Jesus coming by God's power by his word, means within the womb of conception, Jesus grew into a full baby by the nuture and care of Mary's body. God starting the process, but Mary's body housed Jesus. Remember the movie aliens, the conception was through sex in that movie. Do not go there. Mary body compassed a man(baby) by God's word, made of the same DNA that forms flesh that you and I have. God created the heavens and the earth by what his word. The molding of the first man was taken by the earth already formed by the word.
Now with that in mind it is the same way a believer gets saved, by the word breathing life in the heart of man upon receiving Christ as Lord and Savior. God's Spirit and shadow covers us by his hovering over us, His power coming by his word to our hearts. Yet the overshadowing is not necessarily seen. Christ on the cross as he was dying, the eclipse or the overshadowing of God was definitely present. Science will say an eclipse. The believer and none believer seeing the physical illumination of God's word, but the spiritual hovering the darkness casted by God's shadow telling of the good things to come from the sacrifice made seeable by an eclipse. God's timing in elipse with Christ upon the cross. The earthquake not a timing beyond for God's purpose, but an event to show the stones would praise him when no one else would. When God demonstrates in a physical way he does so, so the world can understand, because the world can not and does not understand this spiritual explanations without it. God's love for man only speaks of the good things to come despite their crime against God's only begotton Son.
Mary said let it be as you have said. Angel told her also that her cousin Elizabeth was pregnant, in old age. Two times this angel would speak of John the Baptist birth to those needing information for a purpose. Gabriel spoke about the birth of Christ twice to Daniel and then to Mary. Mary's evidence of what the angel said to her was true, and we will be discussing that journey tomorrow. Now you understand the conception of Christ came from the word of God, the hovering only spiritual hovering like when God's Spirit hovered over the earth. Jesus made from the same substance that created the earth that formed first man and that is God's word. Yes God created man twice by the same substance from the original source, one just made from what the word became. Flesh of both destructable, but Christ body now in undestructible format and physically seen by his disciples and others. Christ return is coming in an incorruptible body. The shadowing at the cross for the good things to come, meaning his resurrection and one day is return to earth.
Dear Heavenly Father, open our eyes to see our impossibility as being possible by your power that created first man as well as Jesus. Let us see the cross not only as a story of extreme horror but for the fact of good things to come meaning Christ resurrection and His promise that our sins are forgiven, and our sin washed away, Your presence heavenly Father at the cross of Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen

Hebrews 10:1-23 KJV
1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
