Sorrow And Three Prophesies 12/22/2020
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisMatthew 2:14-23 KJV
14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,
18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.
21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
In 1996 when I was diagnoised with myelofibrois, my husband and I spent what I consider the best day on my mother guest bed playing cards. It was not the game, but the cutting up and laughter that I enjoyed. We laughed so hard I thought I would come unglued. I been so sick in recent months and had so many test, that I thought if I felt one more needle prick or seen one more doctor, I might just runaway, now mind you I would only of gotten as far as my feet could carry me and my blood in my veins did not run out. It was a diagnoises of anemia similiar to leukemia but not cancerous. The doctor calls and the diagnois is given. It was only to hear the words no cure, was like an immediate death sentence without parole. After all that laughter reflecting back it was like a crushing blow to the chest to hear those words you dying, and there is no solution. As you can see over 24 years later I am still alive. God's miracle, but at the time, it was disastrous, it was taking of the joy that day and crushing it, to the point I did not know if I would laugh ever again. By Christmas God chose to heal, no clue if it would last, or if I would survive and then the extreme pain began with no end. When 2004 came and God healed me again, that was the releasing of the joy back into my life. Many have heard the words Cov-19 and thought they would not live and have survived, by God's grace.
There is a point to my share, sometimes with great joy there is suffering, suffering that can not be described. Had Mary known in Bethlehem as they rode out of sight that King Herod was in search of Jesus. Did she know that little babies from age birth to age 2 would be killed, because of the new born King. The sorrow in Bethlehem town after the Lord left. Did Joseph know that joy he witness and was apart of would be fleeing to Egypt. Did he understand what bewaited Bethlehem. If you think of all that is and was in the Christmas story, you ask why does there have to be sorrow. Why can there not be just rejoicing?
The sorrow in the street as neighbors screamed and cried as their own children died and their infants killed in a mascre. Only our nation in last twenty years have known the loss of so many children at one time and we wonder why. This Christmas we mourn the loss of life in a pandemic and we wonder why and yet it is time to rejoice in the reminder of our Savior birth. The anger the rage, the strong emotion of what occuring can not be hushed even at Christmas. I do not doubt Christians will celebrate and even those that do not believe in Christ will find just time of giving wonderful this year. A day off from thinking on the horror around us, but the joy of our Saviors birth.
Whether President Trump will sign the new Stimulus package will be determined today. Last one that was across His desk, he vetoed. He felt Congress could do better and hopefully they have. This relief will come at a much needed time for many families. Yet it only a bandaid for the much need cost of living. It is the relief, they say before the charge of the new pandemic of a deadlier strain of Cov-19 they say that is now roaming. I believe God is shining his hope through the planets passing over each other to make a brilliant light. Showing us he still with us, but that is schedule of things and solutions are on time. Such on time that the world knows God power is still with us in the universe.
Every good thing God does, man seems to get angry about, that is why Herod order the killing of those babies. He was pure jealous thinking someone might try and still his palace. It was easier to kill a baby then to kill a man. Yet he had no clue that his taxation was allowing Jesus to be born in Bethlehem on God's schedule. What is God's schedule the schedule that does not protect the world from horror. It will protect God's plan for the world though and make Jesus hide in a place in Egypt where he could call out his Son. God would call out his Son out of the land of Egypt.
There three prophesy that occured and the first one is In Rama, Rachel is heard weeping for her children. The second one Out of Egypt I will call my Son. The third prophecy was Jesus would be called a Nazarene. The first prophecy has to do with Rachel the wife of Jacob who died on the road in Bethel giving birth. She was mother of Joseph and Benjamin. She died giving birth to Benjamin. Now the mourning is a reference, to the sorrow If Rachel could come from the grave to weep for her children because of their separation from her children.(Prophesy found in Jeremiah 31:15). The Second prophesy is found concerning the fact God would call his Son out of Egypt is reference to flight out of Egypt when Moses came and took Israel out of Egypt. and also a reference to Hosea 11:1. It more like a metaphor, or a sign that entails God is moving or doing something by his word. His promise to call his son out and he did. First Joseph heard that King Herod was dead and second God warned him in a dream while on the road to Nazareth. Why the repetition, sometimes prophesying is a type of preaching style, it repeating something old that someone remembers. It like us today talking in riddles based on knowledge of songs, lyrics, and quotes. Yet it can also mean prophetic like the next one where Jesus is called a Nazarene, a reference to Jesus living in a town in Galilee. (Prophecy reference Isaiah 9:1,2).
Sometimes prophesy is just current preaching sometimes it futuristic. God warnings are prophetic and warning to obey, Sometimes prophesy is like you look like dad, or mom, and that just it, a reference point. It like the star a prophecy of old and it came to pass, with a warning from God that would cause even the wise men to go another way with there flight from Bethlehem. Joseph dream was enough for him. And what occurs next is the sign proven to be correct, Jesus was in extreme danger.
With hind sight we can see God deliverance, and with foresight we have hopefully the ability to obey God, to heed his warning, and to watch for the visible sign of truth. If we only can see truth, then the lies are only a shadow that is fleeting as the wind. Consider today how many prophecy you created yourself by your own ability and those prophecy that can only come by God's hand. Remember God's truth is real, man"s prophesy is changing by our ability and not our word, but our knowledge and ability that not always true. I have no respect for devil prophesy beyond the fact seeing someone achieve their goals in life.
Dear Heavenly Father, move in your people show them your prophecy for today as a move of your power in the life of this world to declare your greatness and not man. in Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Joel 2:28-32 KJV
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
