The Great Reveal
12/20/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 2:15-20 KJV
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

How many search the scriptures for what God lays on your heart to understand. I think for many it just reading and saying Lord I finally get what you are trying to convey more then Lord where is this when I need it, and skimming for God to say right there where I revealed it. First time I remember speaking in a congregation, I was speaking and I lost my passage of scripture and gave the wrong reference, and i dismissed instead of reading it, but later returned to it when at home and said wow that did go with what I was saying. I sure there is a reason for the illustrate point this morning, but I think it more sometimes we just simple miss the boat so to speak, or miss what God is trying to speak to our hearts. Christmas is no difference. We read or hear the Christmas story and we loose meaning and purpose in it. We loose the purpose of the message and wonder why did we sit through it again. It lost because instead of searching for Jesus with the evidence of God with us through prophecy, through signs, through wonders, we only hear the sound of the drum of scripture and glance at the ipad, ipod, phone or watch to tell the time. The blinkers in a darken church from the phone screens being checked tells the tale of abstracted watchers of the night of the season of the Christmas play. Did we loose focus, on why we were there in the church and what we were going to hear. The choir announcing the new born king/shepherd. Do not worry even i been in that pew of distraction on more then one occasion.

As we continue is this pageant is your mind and focus on Jesus and the story of what it will reveal about the search of the Shepherds . The Lord made known to the shepherds through an angel that the Christ child had been born. As the shepherd watched over their flock their heart was stirred at the angels words of where to go find this baby. Not ordinary Baby or one born while traveling but Christ the Lord. It was revealed to them who Jesus was. The message not hidden to the shepherds in the field, and so they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph and the babe lying in a manger. They found the prophetic message spoken to them by the angel. A messenger of God that spoke to them of this unusual birth. Now as soon as they seen it, they told Mary their story and then went into highways and byways of those open fields and told everyone else, shouting, glorifying and praising God. Who could of kept that story quiet. People are still repeating the story over two thousands years later. Why because it is about our Redeemer, who came to bring peace and to save us from our Sin.

Why are people still repeating it says those on the street that care nothing about faith in Christ. Why because we know our Savior lives. The continual scripture study passage below states a reason we still tell the story, because God reveals to us who he is and his Son is and the Holy Spirit. This passage comes right after some of his disciples did some miracles and came and told Jesus the great things God had done by their hand. Not fully understanding that grace of God that revealed through prayer, through the laying on of hands and obedience to the Spirit, that not only they were a child of God, but that God has revealed who he is to them. Revealed who his Son is and the Holy Spirit. That they had the gift of eternal life, because of faith and had revealed it through miracle works.

If I could focus one word today it would be revealed. God reveals to those who will hear, that are willing to seek who He is and willing to listen to him. Shepherds had to hear the angels, then search for evidence by going to Bethlehem. Then they did one more thing and share their story. They went rejoicing from the manger to the open field to where people need to know their Savior was born. What does my story at the beginning reveal, we sometimes have to slow down and read, and when God shares through his Spirit, what we thought was error, to listen to the passage once more. To listen to the reveal once more. God wants to do something he going to do it by his Spirit and not by your power or planning. The Christmas story pageants are planned and who knows the error of the children are sometimes the attraction to the parents. Sometimes the one thing that gets the people attention is that little girl that is more interjectic, or the little boy who keeps loosing his crown, or the forgeting of a memorized line and adilibs that tells the story that people for some reason remember along with the message, Christ love. It often the punchline of ministers jokes to each other, that tell us we got what God was truly doing.

This morning when we think of the searching for the manger by the shepherds with no errors, but perfect events to see and worship the King, may we remember who is the revealer of truth, not man, but God. That God wants to reveal to us who His Son is and Who his Spirit is, so there no mistake of who God really is in our hearts and our minds. That prophecy spoken is of him. Let God reveal himself to all that are willing to search out the truth of his word, and evidence that is revealed with in our world that he still lives. Let us not be blinded by the lies of the anti Christ, or the grinches that would like to steal the Spirit of Christmas. Christmas is not found in gifts of material possession but found in the heart, and revelation of who Christ is. The one hope that is for all mankind. That one hope that is for all believers. And the evidence revealed of Christ is speaking to us through his Word, Spirit and prophesy still today, just like he did to the Shepherds and Wise men, people that were not of the royal family persay, but people with knowledge he was coming.

Are you sharing the message, or only the gifts of popularity this year. The gifts of materialism seem easier to share, then ask yourself is Jesus real to you. If not ask again Is Jesus going to be real this year to you in your heart and mind. Stop waiting for his return and grasp the reality of Christ present in our world through the gift that keeps giving the gift of love, the gift of hope and the gift of eternal life. Can you give the gift of knowledge of who Christ is to someone else this Christmas. Can you share with someone His love and hope. That it not just a story of a baby, but a prophecy of hope.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to share the prophecy of hope to others and pray that you will reveal yourself to those we share that hope of Christ too. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Luke 10:21-24 KJV
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:
24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
