turtle30cshell Daily Devotions For December 18, 2020
Image Of The Invisible God
12/18/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 2:7 KJV
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

How can we be in a place of discontent when we know we have seen the image of the invisible God not with human sight of the eyes but with the spiritual sight of the Holy Spirit. No one has seen God at anytime, and yet, he comes in the human form as his dear Son. In Christ the fullness of God dwells. Now with this in mind who is this baby in the manger but Emmanuel God with us. Emmanuel the hope of eternal life, the hope and salvation of the world. Is this baby in the flesh the image of God. The answer is the Spirt of this child is God. The very word of God is this child and the word this child speaks is God. He is the firstborn of all living and the firstborn of the dead of the new covenant. First born and end of the old covenant because of the authority of the Word of God and the resurrection of the dead at the cross. Are we left behind, not really, to be left behind is more of saying God is no longer with us and that not true. Since the time of Pentecoste the Holy Spirit has been with each believer upon faith and understanding of who He is. There are three stories about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, some knew only about God like Cornelius, some knew only about John's baptism of repentance and others only Jesus, and others knew not there were three baptisms. But each group need knowledge of all three baptism for the story to be unfolded like a book or unrolled like a scroll. The power of the Holy Spirit in the believer, is the third story, his power and new covenant with all believers of the first and second baptism. The knowledge of God the Father and the Son. It is the image of the son we are created in by spiritual rebirth.

This little infant brought forth by his mother Mary and laid in a manger was no ordinary baby boy, or first born. He was the first born of all creation. He was and is the first born of the new covenant between God and man. This new covenant of peace came with a cross to bear for our sins. A cross to bear to make atonement for our first mistake of sin as children of God through Adam. God's first Son molded in the image of God, given the breath of God that would be given to every soul. Life breath to every soul. Just the Spiritual rebirth must come through his word, from even the days of old, the forgiveness and rejunivation of life from old covenant still intact in the new covenant, because Christ is the word of God.(John 1:1-14) Can we deny the fact this infant came for a purpose to demonstrate how to live in obedience to God the Father. Did not the first Adam fail at this task. He had the life breath of God in him, but not the word of God in his soul. We need God's word and promises etched in our hearts, mind and soul. We need to consume the word as important to each part of our humanity, the mind, spirit and soul connection.

Jesus contained both the word and Spirit/breath of God. Formed in the image of God by his word. To be born of God we are born again spiritually by his word and his spirit. We become reborn by the items missing out of our first birth. Our first birth of only God's breath and not his word. What is our spirit but a drop of God's breath, the part that is created in the image of God. (Genesis 2:7 read below) With this thought in mind Jesus is born both of the word and by the spirit, but also we are reborn by the word of God in our life, and his very Spirit that gives us life through his breath a mirror image of the spiritual breath that causes us to be reborn spiritually, giving us the eternal hope.

There was no room at the inn, and I wonder for a moment why was there no room, I do not doubt Joseph search to make his bride to be comfortable. Take note Jesus was born in a stable after entering Bethlehem, one day late and he been born on the side of the road. But timing was perfect for his entrance into the world. His word coming on command at entry into Bethlehem. No doubt the stable was packed with other travelers, perhaps. Perhaps in reality it may of been easier to clean up after birth then in the house. God location is always perfect. After all He is a the Son of God of all creation and he is the word of all creation. He was born among the world, and not on the street, but among all that would be rejoicing over the birth. Did not God care about the animals as they were gather and loaded into the ark. Did not God care about the donkey Balaam being beaten. Does he not care about the sparrows. Yet he gives the job to mankind to care for his creation. Do we care for his creation?

Christ importance is more then his birth, though his birth is a symbol of love, peace, hope, gentleness, meekness, God's longsuffering with humankind and self control. Is is example of God displinary action taught to his believers. Yet in truth a baby brings hope of tomorrow has many cries to be loved and tended, with the enability to wait, but to demand for food, diaper changing with no control of his ability to know that it be provided. God's Son entering into the world as we would with all human needs and desires as a baby of peace, and so forth, yet it is in opposition to the world he comes from. A world where his very word occurs and world his word is spoken with a timetable of precision. Yet all of us live with out this schedule of precision despite how many calenders and date books we establish. In fact we can declare this happen at this time, I doubt it will, without some point the clock will stop or the wrong page turned to mess up the schedule, or the absents of mind to make remember it not Monday but Friday. Yep that the point God's word timing is awesome. His birth of His Son comes into a world of no precision, but when Christ speaks, his power performed, it occurs as evidence of God's grace.

As we think of the tiny baby in a manger that will be and is the king of all creation, let us not forget he is our spiritual King and one day physical king of his entire kingdom. Let us not deny his power, with the image of a baby, but understand he was baptized into our world of sin, not with sin, but with human life. He may of spent on earth 33 years, but on the cross he cried Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. Simple put we have no clue our destructive nature of sin, but we have hope if we believe, believe in his Son to have eternal hope and baptism of His word and Spirit in our life. To be born again spiritual, by allowing his Word and Spirit to rule our hearts. The new covenant of faith in Christ Jesus, the hope he brings us of eternal life through his death and resurrection. Yet is a covenant of old.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us this Christmas to grasp that Jesus is in your image, and not only image but created by your word, by your Spirit. That Jesus was first born of all creation and yet born in human flesh at a later time, being the word of God. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Genesis 2:7 KJV
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Colossians 1:12-22 KJV
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
