Compass A Man 12/16/2020
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJeremiah 31:22-40 KJV
22 How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.
23 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.
24 And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.
25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.
26 Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.
27 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.
28 And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.
29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge.
30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
37 Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.
38 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.
39 And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.
40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
The state of the government at the time of Christ birth was under Roman rule. Roman came in and took over. Not much is said except that Israel did not have to leave the promise land. With that in thought scripture declares a time of such as this, of when Israel would not be power, but the Jesus would be conceived. Now yesterday we talk about searching. And I search through scripture for prophesy concern the Messiah, there one I yet to refound, I know is about the taxation at the time of Christ birth, and that is why Mary and Joseph had to go to Bethlehem. However we not there in the story just yet, we have to go back to the prophetic account of the time period that Christ would be born and the result of after the cross. It would not matter if I went through every prophesy the account the time frame is all accurate for the time of Christ. I can not change this prophesy, or do I desire too. Yet it is clear God's people would be scattered in the end and Israel would be no more.
The baby is compassed by a virgin. The New covenant is compassed by a virgin. She would have a son in time of captivity in their own homeland. This baby was created and surround by her, Yet it also speaks of the virgin church would be form and is also talked in prophesy as a woman. When Jesus ministry started it was surrounded by his followers, not all would remain in his church, because not all would continue to follow. Yet Jesus was surround by the church the people given the gift of the new covenant through the cross, and through the gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was surround by His bride. The time line clear and the prophesy clear that these new people would be God's people. He would write the laws on the heart of the people by the Holy Spirit. In this since the new church would form and arise. He gave them the world to search and learn about, the world to spread the gospel in, not in one village or town, but all over creation. The need for temple would be no more. God's people in a building and they learn scripture and are taught by man, but to be taught by the Holy Spirit one has to learn to listen for God and obey Him.
When examining scripture we have to look does it imply or work with the historical account of events. Does what happen in land of Judea and Israel has it happened, and if so how, what, when, and why. What is special about the events surrounding the Christ Child, he came to set man free now spiritually. Faith was more then a place it was the heart and mind of the people. Faith was more then a time period of prophesy, but a time period about people loving God worshipping God in a land far from their home. The hope to return to their home. Where is home but with God and His Son. Where is home but in our heart. Where is home, but the place we long for that is peaceful, and happy always, and never to be afraid, as one sits at their Savior feet and here him speak or just to worship.
I think of how couples sit together and are content often to be in each other embrace, to sit and just be together, the unity of the moment and not always perfect, but that unity that says I am his and she is mine. To be a couple embraced, only to realize it not always just the sitting or doing, but the adoration of love between each other, that helps even through those difficult days of life. It when hours and weeks go and there is no embrace that trust, and love need to be rekindle. When we get to live with Christ that love that adoration for who he is will not need rekindling as we often need it rekindled when our life gets crazy and busy. It not that Christ left any of us, but the fact our minds are going a mile a minute in all direction and we need to take a moment and focus on him. The church needs to compass the Savior. How many mothers can picture how many times Mary rubbed her tummy to feel that life growing within her. How many times did she wonder about this life within her, what it truly meant, but her body compassed this life without a human father, but the Father being God above. This life growing by miracle conception. How her love must of grown even stronger for this baby name Emmanuel, whose name means God with us.
May This Christmas be about the Savior Birth, and the adoration and worship of Him not only as a babe, but also on the cross, the everlasting Father of New covenant to come, the King of Kings of the heart and soul of man no matter where we go or are. Those in need of place to worship maybe you understand it begins first in the heart, before it begins in the gathering of others. It begins within your own heart.
Dear Heavenly Father may we compass your Spirit in our heart to worship you, that you will speak to our hearts and help to worship you no matter our location. That faith is not a temple but worship begins in the heart. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: John 4:22-24 KJV
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
