Arise And Shine For The Light Has Come 12/13/2020
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisIsaiah 60:1-14 KJV
1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.
5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
6 The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the LORD.
7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.
8 Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?
9 Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.
10 And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.
11 Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.
12 For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.
13 The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
14 The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
Prophesy or just a remembrance of time past as in the time of King David and Solomon. Those that came to see the king of Wisdom, came from all over and people came bringing gifts from all over to help in the building of the temple. Or is this prophesy concerning the new king born in Bethlehem who is Christ our Lord. We have to stop and realize if it happened before the reflection of history it will happen once more theology. Or is it pure prophecy and a dream of the greatness of Israel. I think on my own country America, i have to ask what is it that I reflect most on perhaps the constiution of the United States, the agreement of laws to protect and govern this great land in freedom. The things that made this country great and people from all over the world want to see it, even if they want to return to their own homeland.
If we only see Christ as a king and not the Savior and Redeemer, we get a message of hope of a country that not spiritual but physical in the present. Israel longed for their own country once outside of exile and during time of exile. The story of yesteryears through their history gave them hope of land of promise being once more with the hussle and bussle of prosperity and wealth governor by a king of Israel as in the Days of David and Solomon. If I looked to America of yesteryear and not today, what would America look like, France, Germany, Russia, China, and so forth. These are kingdoms that will come and go. They will not last despite they have for centuries. Here is what I mean, country rise and fall, nothing changes these facts, but what is the spiritual kingdom about, it lives beneath a banner of human governments whether in freedom or not in freedom. It is cloaked with the hope of living for eternity in a place of paradise with God(Father, Son and Holy Spirit). It is a kingdom without physical king until the time of His return to claim all his people.
Now with knowing all this the time of Manger, who came, who was prophecied as coming but the wise men/magi from the east, the people from Midian who road camels following a star to find the New born King. The shepherds from different areas, gather together as they tended their flock in the field, when angel announced the coming King. The pharaoh from the land that been won in battle, knew not a king would be born or the signs to look for. The fir tree mentioned, that surrounded the stable and perhaps the stable and manger was made from. The surrounding of people in a little town on a night there was no room in inn. There in Isaiah we have the outline of the people in attendance at the birth of Christ our Lord and people coming and bowing at his feet in a stable and later in house. Carrying Gold, Frankinscense and myrrh. Gifts for the Christ child that would diaper and provide for him, oil, and lotions through babyhood.
Why did they come because a light did shine in the east, and declare a king had been born but they knew not where, so they followed the sign first to the palace and then house. How long did it take, some scholars believe a year to two years. If we think how many people did those wise men tell and how many people knew and traveled in hopes to see this king. No one truly understand this was a spiritual king not one of physical war or condemnation, but one of love, joy and peace. As we go over the story, I you understand that people were not looking for eternal king as much earthly king. They knew not who this Jesus would be. God sent his Son to be a spiritual King to draw all people to himself. The kingdom built without stone, but built on the promise of Messiah coming and return.
Dear Heavenly Father, we ask you to open our hearts to see the display of all that is in the world that open their hearts to the Spiritual King Jesus will have eternal hope of salvation this season that only your redeemer can fullfill. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.
13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.
14 And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.
15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.
