Encouraging The Gospel Of Peace 12/27/2019
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisPhillipians 4:1-7 KJV
1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.
2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.
3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Paul wrote the Phillipian church encouraging the men to help the woman in ministry who labor in the work of the Lord, to rejoice, to show the gentleness of faith, because the Lord is returning, and pray with all kinds of request and thanksgiving unto God. And God's peace will keep you despite one's own understanding and he shall keep your herats and minds through Christ Jesus. In the very first verse we see Paul crown. and to stand fast in the Lord. Who is Paul's crown but the Phillipian church which he started. Paul can save no one himself, but he knew who could save the world. Yesterday we talked about Christ crown with jewels. Not the platted thorn crown that man placed on his head in mockery but the gold crown that was placed by his Father. We might be kings and queens or princess and prince in God's kingdom, but we are not Jesus, nor can we wear his crown. Our own crown is cast at the foot of the cross. Our crown with jewels of those that we lead to Christ, but they not our jewels but the Jewels of Christ. We have to learn to let go and allow God to minister to individuals. It is easy to brow beat a person with scripture, or try and force them into God's way of thinking, but it not something that should be done. To minister to people in gentleness is to share the gospel with compassion. With the understanding of one's own humanity. The word moderation meaning to be gentle. Our eagerness to share the gospel can push people not into submission of faith but into a corner with no back door causing harm or force a person to attack back.
The negotiating tables of North Korea has come a long way in over 15 years. When think about the negotiating tables of foreign diplomates even in the Middle East, Cuba, and even other peaceful leaders of our day and time, I am amazed when I realize how far things have come.Yet faith by itself in foreign lands has spread by hard work and love of many missionaries. To share peace is to discuss difference without war, to speak of hope we both have for family and friends. Yet it more if you are of faith it essential to share faith, even with those different then ourselves. You can not hope a person is saved, for their decision may of never been made. Yet you can not force a person to receive Christ either, all you can do is share Christ and hope either you are planting a seed or you reaping fruit of faith. God waters the plants and nutures his plants, we got to let go of the seed, allow God to bring forth life of faith in a person and allow God to tend to his new sheep. Our role is just to obey the Lord. Understand some people are ready to receive Christ and some are just planted in the knowledge of Christ. It is like the negotiation of our world, sometimes the waiting game is far better then if we put things in hyper speed. True we might not know the hour of a person death, but all we can do is obey God has he calls people to faith before their time is up. We can not see the interworkings of the heart of mind. We must trust God, pray and seek him that when the time comes God will convict the heart and the friend or family member will receive Christ without shoving or pushing but the nudging by the Holy Spirit speaking to the soul of man.
Dear Heavenly Father give us the gentle ways of sharing the gospel without backing someone in a corner but teaching by example and sharing our faith. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
