Purpose For Separation 12/24/2019
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisMatthew 2:19-23 KJV
19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.
21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
Luke 2:39-52 KJV
39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.
42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.
43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.
44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?
50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. The purpose of the separation, to be called a Nazarene to be designated to be separate. In Matthew 2:23 "He shall be called a Nazarene. God separates you from your people is it for a purpose. Let us ask even more serious is Christ separated from his people, not really, for he would grow up in Nazareth in the land of the Galileans where is people had chosen to lived outside their home town of the city of David. Galilee was a gentile area of Israel. Yet he was jewish and raise there. Now not sure if Jesus was in a jewish community like in the USA or living side by side the Gentiles. The segregation of people still exist today even in the United States. A segregation of communities. What often happens is one family moves in and someone does not like them and they move out only for that one family that had moved in moves in a cousin or another relative into the vacant house to be closer to family. Some people are more family oriented then others. With a little history lesson on the Galilee at the time of Christ we also see something else in Luke Jesus would return to Nazareth to live in Chapter 2 of Luke. Luke and Matthew are in agreement with where Jesus would grow up as a tender root and offspring of Jesse/King David Father/ancestor line. There is much we do not know about Christ. We know he lived among family because his family traveled yearly to the temple and Jesus got to go at age 12 with his family. We know that there was problem with the king searching for Jesus and flight to Egypt makes perfect sense beyond the prophesy. We know it is recorded how he left Egypt was through dream given to Joseph that the king was dead. The reason he did not go back to the land of Judea was that the king did rule and lived in that land. Though the king rule more areas then Judea, he was not looking in Nazareth for Jesus.
Jesus would be called a Nazarene/Nazarite not only because he lived in Nazareth but because he was chosen to be separate. God had called him bear the sins of many. He was called to be separated. He would grow up to be as a tender plant according to Isaiah 53, and be lead to the slaughter like a lamb. Jesus trip in Luke to the temple as a young man not as child took place when he was 12 years old. At age 12 a boy was consider a man. Yet he still lived at home learning the ways of adulthood. His parents would take him to the temple, and somehow he got separated from them that when they started their journey home, they realized he was missing. They thought he was among the relatives. They had to return to Jerusalem and they found him talking to the priesthood. The priesthood was amazed at this understanding and learning. His parents question him as to why he separated himself from them, they had been worried and his response he was going about His Father business. His Father meaning God's work. He would return with Mary and Joseph to Nazareth and do all they instructed after that.
Jesus a child chosen and conceived by the Holy Spirit for a divine purpose and called to be separated. Called for the choosing of being crucified. With the understanding of designed for sacrifice, we have to understand he was also had a divine purpose to teach the people. If we lay the purpose of sacrifice aside we see this great teacher of God before the people that even wowed the priesthood as a child. Most children with gifts of teaching or singing seem to wow the church world today. Do they have a special call, perhaps. But the call of God on their life must not be because man forced it but because they yielded to God's call. Jesus yielded to God's call of Messiah. He yield to the call to be crucified, to teach, to preach, to heal, to perform the works of God, because of who He is. He was Emmanuel. No one else is Emmanuel. With that said the chosing of our dedication to God must be a choice and not forced upon someone depite their talents or gifts. To serve God is a choice, and how little or how much one serves is God choosing as we yield to him, either by the will of God or one own will, never to be decided by another person then the person with the call, and God. It is hard to explain what is for some to be forced into their faith and others choosing to yield to a higher calling to serve in ministry. Those usually forced continue to do so for money and those by choice usually do it because of the call on their life. To take that way from someone that is called is failing to yield to God or his will.
Jesus would wait til he was 33 to begin his ministry not usual wait for he would serve as others did at that age for the work of ministry. Yet his call was different, his called to be separated for a purpose, not to be separated from people but called to serve the people to do the will of God as teacher, preacher, prophet, and only begotten Son of God. Only one that could take away the sins of the world. Yet he was called to be separated for sacrifice.
If you have a call to serve God in ministry yield to God and allow God to lift you up in due season, for he lifted up Christ at age 33 and proclaimed him to the world as his only begotten and beloved Son. Be patient for you calling, and the yield of his will. We are called to serve Him, but how we serve is how God calls us to serve. There all kinds of positions in body of Christ to be fullfilled. Yet it starts with faith, humility, repentance, seeking God and growing in the wisdom and knowledge of who God and Christ is by His Spirit. Learning obedience and studying His word. To know God not just by repetition of reading scripture but by yielding to the spirit of God. We are not called to crucifixion though some are mayrter for faith. We called to obedience to God's will for our life. Are you willing to yield today. First get saved, and then begin to grow in Christ.
Dear Heavenly Father you know your will is greater then our understanding or the cost of being separated for a purpose of ministry. Lord teach your chosen to yield to your will and live for you in humility and love. Jesus is the only one that can pay the price for our sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen. 1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.http://www.turtle30cshell.com
