Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Genesis 49:8-12 KJV
8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.

The tribe of Judah in scripture comes from the many sons of Jacob. The children of Jacob gather around him, and he began to not only bless but even prophesied the heritance of each son to them. The idea of blessing is to pass on the final inheritance to each child, to pass on the legacy of prophecy from God as revealed to him concerning his children. Most would pass this kind of prophecy off perhaps today unless one receives the ancient ways of receiving blessings from their Father for hope and legacy of honor and some case even dishonor in sense, depending on how one views it. Why is the one prophesy concerning Judah so important to the coming Messiah(Shiloh defined in the hebrew as tranquility, source Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionary). Tranquility or peace. Messiah is coming as peace/tranquility. The law would not depart from the tribe of Judah. Most would agree with the fall Judah the law left when the kingly line is no longer in power but it is not so. Judah laws still ruled the people just not in the way of being a legal law, but law of obedience as far as the Mosaiac law or the way of doing things according to tradition. Tradition being so important in Bible days to the Jewish people that followed God. Not all the Jews followed tradition, just like today the traditions are not all followed by some and others are more devout. Some Jews you know by their attire and others are hiden by worldly attire. This laws would remain and those leaders respected in regards to the tribe of Judah for centuries even outside of Jerusalem rule.

What is the prophecy in scripture in Genesis 49, it speaks of several things. The sceptre would not part Messiah came. What happen when the Messiah came, he would ride on a she ass/donkey and foal. One the Gospel carries this out to the full letter of how Christ would ride into the city of Jerusalem riding on both the mother and foal. Jesus sitting on the mother with his feet on the foal. A tradition of kings and of coronation of a new king. This season we celebrate the birth of Christ as being the Messiah the Prince of Peace/Shiloh. God's peace offering. I sometimes feel I talk so much about peace lately that we can not forget the blood that would be poured out as the people took revenge on Christ because he did not become the king or leader they desired. The blood of Christ poured out and blood poured even from his eyes, as blood ran off his brow. Yet his teeth were still pearly white. Salvation had enter the city and their sin of rejection would leave the city, with the sacrifice of Christ outside the city. Christ's forgiveness while on the cross would bury the sin's of Israel so He could return unto them. Yet the law would depart from the tribe of Judah as the temple fell in Jerusalem in 96 A.D. or that time frame. Holy Spirit was still in power as He lead the Christ people onward.

The prophecy are important, but it harder to grasp if one's heart is harden to the truth of ancestors of a people of faith. Israel hearts been harden to the truth of the Messiah being Jesus for centuries. and yet God not finished for the Israel is once more in their beloved city in the process of rebuilding one more temple. What does all this mean, One can rest assure in the prophesy of the return of Christ. One can rest assure Jesus is coming. One can reassure that Jesus is the King of peace. Yet Christ return will be one of judgment and a return to claim His people. Jews have been travel back to Jerusalem for some time(less then hundred years). We can rest in the promise of Christ return. Jews are flying into Jerusalem.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to rest in the peace only you can bring through Christ Jesus, resting in prophesy of His return and the truth of prophesy already that has come. Help us to hold to the truth.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Zechariah 9:7-9 KJV
7 And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite.
8 And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Isaiah 11:12-16 KJV
12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.
14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.
15 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. 16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
