Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Genesis 22:11-18 KJV
11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Is the prophesy for scripture also for you. Depends, was it to individual or to the group. I am sure in history there have been tribes that thought by sacrificing their children they could please God because Abraham took his only son Isaac the promise heir to be sacrificed on the altar and a ram was provided. Yet the instruction to Abraham was not for each tribe to sacrifice one of their offsprings. This was direct decree from God to Abraham that would be broken through subsitutionary sacrifice for sin being a ram. Abraham was stopped by angel of the Lord told not to kill Isaac. Ram was provided as evidence not to kill his son. We need not to kill our children for a burnt offering. We are not to lay them on the altar in regards to sin. David lost his son because of his sin, but David did not place his son on the altar for his sin. Why even mention atonement for sin here. Abraham's sacrifice was not for his sin, but a offering to God, a free will offering to God. Giving to God what he required Abraham as far as a sacrifice. Burnt offering meaning a holocaust killing of his son. The sacrifice of one ram given totally to God without eating of this meat. When King Saul was to destory a whole village in regards to holocaust of a pagan tribe it was in obedience to God if he had done so, but instead he took the spoils of the land. If we put in the idea of a holocaust for God, as some would call a Islamic jehad, or any religious group of mass kill, is only a reminder of what they feel God has required. Christianity through the death of Christ is the only holocaust of sacrifice for sin. Mass destruction of a people in Saul's day was not for Saul's sin but the sin of a nation. Some cultures not Christians feel the killing of innocent lives is to honor there God. If God set a Savior to free people from the yoke of sin of the burnt offering/holocaut killing who is doing the killing but those not Christian.

The claim of fame for christians is to offer peace and love and not to slay the innocent but help those in need. The roman's seen it please the jews to kill Christian and because of there blood thirst they did so in Acts 7. The issue did King Saul disobedience and Abraham obedience in opposition of each other. No Abraham's offering was a free will offering to God, not a destruction to a society that become unrepairable.Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed by God, Now God was demanding government to do likewise. Abraham offering was requirement for Abraham and with Abraham's williness to sacrifice came not only approval but the promise that all nations would be blessed through Abraham's tribe. He was willing to offer his most precious gift he had and not to hold back and God protected his son.

If we sacrifice our own life not in suicide but in the since of offering ourselves to be used in God's ministry, we are giving up of ourselves in service to God and to serve him only. Nazism teaches the slaughter or sacrifice of impurities of society. True faith in Christ teaches not the sacrifice of others, but the enabling of others, to build them up, to restore them, to give them the hope of Christ through faith. Christ never killed anyone while he walked the earth. Christ never killed anyone instead he walked to the slaughter to be killed for a crime he never committed called sin. Does God call men and women to clean up society. That is a harsh question, for King Saul found himself in disobedience to God, and yet Abraham found himself in direct obedience to God, because his Son was the chosen heir to bring man eternal life through the promise sacrifice of Jesus the only begotten of God. Destruction of a people for their sin, or destruction of person for another sin, is not the sacrifice of Abraham, but the sacrifice of obedience and salvation through God's word coming to man. One would not have to kill another for sin, Christ died for the sins of the world. Saul heart was greedy and the wealth of the sinful nation was desired by Saul. Yet the greed of Abraham is not seen, for he was willing to give up his most precious gift for God. God was willing to give up his most precious gift His Son to pay for sin, only to raise his Son back up to show man he could not destroy the word of God, or God's offering of peace to man. If Christ had been received we would not of been enduring the harshness of this world. Christ would of been ruling upon the earth still today as a king. Yet instead Christ was sacrificed for the greed of peace with mankind instead of man desiring the peace offering of God that came as a baby. Man desire to give their peace away was greater then their desire for peace. God wants to give us peace his way and not the way of man.

God desired to teach truth and hope. To bring healing to the nation of Israel and the surrounding nations through his Son. His mercy shown through the demonstration of love in a sinful world. Giving man a choice to receive truth through the teaching of His word, Enough people rejected Christ teaching to crucify him for our sins of unbelief in who He was. This was all apart of God's plan because He wanted to show the world He could forgive them. Christ own words declared peace with asking his Father to forgive them. Though man reject Christ God willingly gave Christ back through the resurrection and Holy Spirit.

Dear Heavnely Father give us the hope and peace of God through Christ, because he is teacher of truth and faith, forgive us of our sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Hebrew 11:17-19 KJV
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
