Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Judges 4:1-9 KJV
(1) And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, when Ehud was dead.
(2) And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.
(3) And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.
(4) And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
(5) And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
(6) And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
(7) And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.
(8) And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.
(9) And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.

God raises up leaders to judge his people. God raises up leaders to oppress His people. No one wants to think of evil leader having authority, but God allows such things for a purpose if only for us to see the need of godly ways. Deborah a judge at the time when Israel needed to be rebuke from their own evil ways. She was a judge to her family and to Israel. Leaders such as military would come seek her advice. Barack was afraid to go to war without Deborah and for this reason it was prophesized that a women would win the war. It would not be Deborah but another woman.

God raised up Deborah at a time of oppression to do more then just judge but to teach the people to trust in God. If I could instill in the hearts of those that read God’s word and my website, it would be to trust in God in His Son Jesus. To trust in His word. To know if God speaks even through his leaders it will come to pass.

We live in world that our leaders have only personal regard of faith and not always exercising their faith in the political world, because of the controversy. It means little if our leaders are praying people to some, but to others is crucial. As a nation we need to pray for our leaders and our nation. With the idea of every war and every aspect of the lives of our world is not always a religious fight. People in general will believe what they will, but the evidence of God’s word coming to pass can change many hearts, especially when there no evidence of the possibility.

From the time of Christ the prophetic word would continue in the church and in the believers life, only to rise and fall based on each generation will to listen and obey God. The Holy Spirit fills the heart of each believer, giving each believer the gifts of His Spirit. Prophesy being one of the gifts, but not everything uttered is prophesy. One must be willing to listen and obey first for God to use you for prophetic messages, and prophetic sermons, and teaching. God does not leave a person out of interpretation that effects their life. God does speak to the individual and often first before someone else if one is listening. Yet sometimes it takes a little nudging from others and God knows this. And he uses his Spirit in others to help us in the direction we need to go. Barack need to trust, but Deborah understood the fear and knew what she spoke would be enough evidence for Barrack in the days ahead no doubt. She went with him, despite the fact she was not needed there.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the gifts of your calling, but also for calling the believer to serve you as you fill their heart with your Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:John 15:15-16 KJV
(15) Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
(16) Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
