12/27/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Luke 2:36-39 KJV
(36) And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;
(37) And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
(38) And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
(39) And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

There were women in that prophesized in the temple. Women roles of leadership were not to rule over both men and women in general but maintain ministries that pertained to women issues, as well as prophesied to even men. Israel history of women prophetess were not spoken about in the detail in scripture. Yet those that did prophesized were known for their dedication to God. Women were not exclude from knowing God or exempt from sacrifices. Women after giving birth would take there sacrifice to the temple required by law. Mary and Joseph went to make sacrifices at the temple in Jerusalem. Simeon a male first prophesied over Jesus and then a women came. A devout woman of faith and old in age. She spoke of Jesus being the Messiah. Tell those listening about the future of this little baby.

We can not exclude women from ministry for they had their place in scripture and their place in telling of the coming Messiah to each generation. Women may not of been has well known by name, but they had their own roll in the temple to speak the words given to them by God has well.

Women were the first to be aware of the Messiah upcoming arrival, and they would be ministers to Jesus through out His life. Women prophets would continue through out the New Testament letters following the Gospel. Women your place in leadership among the people has a open position if you dedicate yourself to God and His work.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the reminder of women’s role in the temple and your church. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
