For God So Loved
12/19/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

John 3:16 KJV
(16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus is a testimony of God’s love for us. He came as a promise a new born babe. He came as a promise of the virgin birth told thousands of years before Christ. Israel at the time between Christ coming and the prophesy to Isaiah faced the reality of God more then once. One of the most noted time period is called Hanukkah. It time of year of when the lighting of the oil becomes important to those still in search of their Messiah. There knowledge that God was still apart of their life. The Jewish people had not enough oil to purge the temple and make it holy. Yet God took the oil they had and burned it for eight days. Eight days purging his temple of uncleanness. Purging his house. Taking care of the cleansing of the temple.

We are the temple of the Holy Spirit if we have faith in Christ. God wants to purge our hearts and soul from sin. He wants to burn bright with only the oil He provides for our life. He desires to use us as a instrument that will please Him. The reason for the mention of holiday that is not consider Christian is it is a time before Christ. My faith stems throughout scripture and not just the Gospels. Yet without my Messiah I have no faith. Without Jesus I have no hope. Without Jesus I have no oil to keep me burning for God. May Christ light keep burning in each believer life. May the memory of the purging of the temple for the Jewish people only remind us of the purging God does of our soul. God wants to purge the sin from out life. We must be willing to allow Christ to cleanse us from all sin, through the sanctification process that is on going.

Dear Heavenly Father move in our hearts and purge our sins from our life. May the reminder of you ability to cleanse your temple be a reminder of your purging of our soul. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:Luke 3:17 KJV
(17) Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
