All of us have experience difficulty in life at some point. Yet can we say I love you Lord because you heard me and delivered me from going to the grave. Can we say I love you because I was deeply afflicted. One must ask ourselves can we worship God despite the events of our life. Not everyone has experience a life altering event in the since of hardship, war, accident, or other hellish events in one’s life. Yet the Psalmist of this psalm knew he loved God despite anything that had occurred, but he loved God even more perhaps because God had delivered him.
Sometimes I think my thinking is backwards, because I know what the taste of death is like, but still lived to tell the story of God’s mercy and grace in my own life. Yet to be changed by such an event beyond my healing, I think I lacked gratefulness. Gratefulness of full comprehending the blessings of deliverance at the time of deliverance. I can say I asked for deliverance, but the reality of understanding God answered did not come til much later in life. The realization of what God truly did in my life was not full comprehended until many years later. Yet I find myself in awe of mighty God.
The mercy and grace of God is often not realize at the point of impact but the point of rest. The words worth repeating and yet life moving like a social media stream of information. Moving so fast the average person can not keep up with what everyone does. Nor can you excel at memorizing it all. The point being most have no time but to move forward. Yet the events in our life that stand out are often the ones that richly change our life for the better or worse of ourselves. The psalmist knew how God had changed his life in troublesome times. He knew the deliverance of His God and He loved to tell the victory that God had saved him from destruction.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the blessings of your deliverance and mercy in our life. Let us remember we need to cry out to you in times of trouble as well as the good times. Remembering you love us and will show mercy to your people. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: James 5:13 KJV
