Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 115:1-18 KJV
(1) Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.
(2) Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?
(3) But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
(4) Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
(5) They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
(6) They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
(7) They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
(8) They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
(9) O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
(10) O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
(11) Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
(12) The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.
(13) He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.
(14) The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.
(15) Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth.
(16) The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
(17) The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
(18) But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.

The works of idols of gold and silver realize not these idols can not do a thing for them. The idols of silver and gold might have legs, arms, mouth, ears and eyes, but they can not walk, their hands can not handle a thing, they can not talk from the throat, they can not ear a sound or see a thing. The idols of heathens have stories, and legends that may bring earthly wisdom, but they have no power to enable a person to change when asked.

This week I been thinking along the lines of changes in my own life even in the past few years. Some good and some bad. I do not like bad changes that come that need to be done away with. Sometimes it called doing spring cleaning of the mindset, heart and soul. It is a cleaning God does through His Spirit, but also by His Word. The Lord is our help and our shield throughout life. Jesus promised the Father would send the comfort of the Holy Spirit in John 14. Yet to understand the power of the Holy Spirit is to understand that His existence as always been. Jesus came to usher in the Gentiles, to bring hope to Israel through prophesy, and to bring hope to every generation to come to those who chose to trust in him. Nothing changed in the fact of trusting God, Son/Word, Holy Spirit. When one puts in remember that Jesus is the fulfillment of the spirit of prophesy, as well as the word of God that became flesh and dwelt among us, the understanding how God is eternal reigns from Old to New Testament, despite laws of the government that ever changing even in our own world.

God is our protector. If we stumble in faith and go even a time period of unfaithfulness to God, He is still our shield. Hezekiah learn this as he laid on his death bed, that God remembered his youth. God was waiting for Hezekiah to call out to him. God may be protecting us, and even waking us up to protect. Even with Hezekiah boasting of Israel wealth to the heathen nations around him, the trouble Israel would endure would not be in his time. As long as Israel trusted in God, there was a shield around their nation, to a point. The point occurred when corruption had become to great in their land and the hearts of the majority of people no longer served God.

God’s shield and help comes from the Holy Spirit who speaks to our hearts all truths, even prophesy. Yet our inward struggle of man is to rely on self and not help from God. I believe all things are possible to those that trust in God. Yet the reality not all things are of God we ask for help with. That is usually when the door is slammed shut. God’s help comes not in our time table, but His. He has the ability to raise us up or us to see the enemy defeated. The earth was created for God’s people and not for the children of the devil. Devil will not last but a short time. God people will be lifted up to see the wrath of God on his enemies.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to trust in you, in all situations. Help us to trust in your word. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:John 14:16-18 KJV
(16) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
(17) Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
(18) I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
