Remember Salvation 12/02/2016
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 Peter 1:1-25 KJV
(1) Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
(2) Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
(3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
(4) To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
(5) Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
(6) Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
(7) That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
(8) Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
(9) Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
(10) Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
(11) Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
(12) Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
(13) Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
(14) As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
(15) But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
(16) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
(17) And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
(18) Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
(19) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
(20) Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
(21) Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
(22) Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
(23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
(24) For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
(25) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. |
How important is the study of scripture and knowledge of the prophets? To those that study the scripture the knowledge that it was prophets of God that recorded scripture. Yet sometimes reading prophesy is really like speaking over and over the things that will eventually come to pass on their own, until you get to the foretelling of the Messiah. When one speaks of hope, one is speaking of a time of deliverance from the oppressor. Israel experienced the oppressor in Egypt and had hope for a deliver based on prophesy of old, that they would be deliver after 400 years. The Hebrew children did not know that their deliver name would be Moses, but they did know their deliver name would be Lord Jehovah. Because of the exile the Hebrew children forget the ways of God and the faith of knowing God. It easy to forget God in hardship when things continue not to go the way you want them too. Yet the call of Moses was to remind the people of who God truly is as well as to teach Egypt.
Every prophet has had it trials and tribulations of life. They even had their own war against the devil and positive outcome of God’s deliverance. God’s deliverance when there was no hope but to trust in God despite what one could perceived. The teaching of scripture is to bring about hope. To bring about belief of hope and faith. Yet without hope and faith would deliverance had come? The answer is no in most cases. See for something to happen it must be fulfillment of God’s will in the form of protection and deliverance.
Jesus dying on the cross for our sins, and he had the power to call on ten thousand angels to deliver him. Almost sound like robin hood story of Robin standing before the throne only to be saved by his merry men. One must remember Jesus was abandoned even by his apostles though some did sit with the women at the cross. Jesus’ angels were of the heavenly kind ready to defend him if He wanted to stop the will of God. God has the power to change his will with the law of mercy. Nineveh found mercy by Jonah preaching, but Jonah found the teaching of God in the heat of the day as the gourd that gave him shade was eaten.
The point is no one without scripture would have foreknowledge of hope and deliverance beyond the word of God spoken by the Holy Spirit. Scripture gives the knowledge of prophesy and the knowledge of the fact things continue. Today people deny the need of sound teaching of prophesy and scripture. Instead falling away to seducing spirits and teachings. If you going through a trial you need the solid foundation of faith and salvation that comes through Christ Jesus.
Jesus taught that sacrifice was not always deliverance but the price of being a good person could mean death, but the hope was eternal life through faith in Christ Jesus. Jesus resurrection demonstrated the victory. God called us to be holy people. People of faith called to do good works, even in times of trouble. To do the right thing despite what others around you are doing to you. That takes mastery of faith. Faith meaning being on guard, willing to pray and seek God as the old time prophets. To remember what Jesus taught and the cross He bore for our sins.
The Holy Spirit speaks to the heart with or without our memorization of scripture. He still able to speak to us without us knowing everything. We study to learn and educate ourselves to know God’s ways, but it is walking by the Spirit aht is crucial to faith. Yet to know the scriptures should only be encourager and reminder to our soul of the hope we have by only belief. Yet it does not stop there, it continues through daily living, that hope must come alive in our hearts. It is through the scriptures we know the Gospel of truth of who Jesus was and is. That the promises of God are keep to every generation. If we understand God’s promises are true and understand the time we are living in is part of God’s promises, then we know not the hour of destruction and hope but we know it is coming.
To live Holy is to walk after the ways of Christ, it not about a goody two shoes, but about trusting God and following after the ways of Christ. Let us not deny the scripture of truth or the prophetic teachings of life and liberty through knowledge of God and Christ Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father give us the hope of salvation. Give us the hope of faith. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Ephesians 2:16-21 KJV
(16) And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
(17) And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
(18) For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
(19) Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
(20) And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
(21) In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
