Can't Take It With You If Your Going To Heaven 08/25/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 Timothy 6:1-21 KJV
1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
Who are we are servant of and how do we behave and who do we cling too this morning? In verse 7 it says we brought nothing into this world and so we can take nothing out of this world with us. As I heard my cousins moving from Hawaii to Florida, my thoughts were how in the world do you pack all that stuff and ship it to another state, let alone the beloved animals along with kids in tow. Then I heard all their stuff arriving in one piece, I had to smile, not always even in local travel do everything get to the destination it suppose to go too.
I was doing some pondering the other day and when this verse this morning appears in scripture, I had to give some type of response. There is only one place you are going that you can take all your worldly goods with you and that is to eternal lake of fire, however, you did not pack your belonging up and they are arriving with destruction and not safety of a packing boxes. When God cleans up the trash pile of our lives he toss it in that eternal lake of fire, but if we not saved guess what we going there too. However that fire is going to be so hot and your ability to hunt for your things is going to be impossible, it will be worse then surviving a tornado, hurricane or fire. Everything is destroyed. You need those red rubies, pearl necklace and those diamond earrings think for a moment how long will they last? These earthly treasures will be done away with and destroyed.
As children of God upon faith in Christ Jesus our eternal hope is rooted to pass from life unto eternal life with God. We need not the things of destruction, or things that are made for destruction in this life, except for survival. As the Afgan refugees and Americans flee from Afganistan, they leaving with only a few carry on possessions if that and the rest is left behind. When we leave this earth behind, we are not fleeing the enemy we waiting for God's final redemption and his wrath being poured out on the world.
Who are we a servant of? Will you can be a servant of greed, lust, anger, partying, sexual immorality, evil and so forth, or you can be servant of love, hope, faith, long suffering, gentleness and so forth, because to follow after Christ we need to loose the things that are evil and bring about evilness in our life. Those things meant for eternity will remain in our hearts and minds as we continue for eternity to follow after Christ.
It is true nothing of value to the human flesh in regards to survival on this earth will no longer be needed. What does heaven look like, all I know this New Jerusalem is filled with people who all believe similiar concerning destruction of evil and the compassion of Christ. There is one brilliant light to see by. In other words we need to grab hold to the good fight of faith and to run the race set before us, that we keep to the commands of Christ. For Christ our redeemer and Lord who stood even before Pilate with a good confession. We will see Jesus, the blessed and only Potentate(prince in greek) and King of Kings and Lord of Lords, until the day of his return's.
Choose who you will serve today, to enjoy the things of true value in this world or only the things meant for destruction. Enjoy the things of real hope or the things of destruction. As I watch older people prepare for their life to be over, I am suddenly aware of all the things they have collected over the years and realize the value is only in this world. Do we need these things in order to survive in this world the answer is no, but it aids us in this world. Anyone paying those high prices for retirement centers, nursing homes and home care know the value of things in there home matter if they can be sold to help pay for expensives of care. Yet hopefully retirement funds, social security and savings will handle all of that. Hopefully today's preparations will prepare for final living expensives and if not, the old saying, you live without it. Yet the reality of the earthly things needed to prepare for final departure, is short lived with the passing away and nothing can be taken with you, but the things of the Spirit of God, such as love, hope, faith, and greatest of these possessions is love.
Why be a servant of anger, emotional upheaval, stress, wild living and so forth when so much good can be accomplished with faith, love and hope. I sat and crochet for three months, and reason I mentioning it, as I crocheted, the stress went I had been dealing with and I accomplished alot of work that needed doing. We can spread hate, anger or we can take and change ourselves to say I keeping Christ commandments to love even if it I can not love those I need to be loving, I love someone else to restore that compassion of Christ by crocheting, to bring prehaps forgiveness to those causing the stress and so forth. See time does heals wounds, especially if love is being applied. The love of Christ flows from one avenue to the other, filling the other people with that love as well. Sometimes we have to allow God to work in matters that we can not change or can not control. It does not change the sins commit by another or even ourselves, but what it does do, is allow love to be applied to the situation. God to evenly apply his love to their hearts about the problem as well, if they will receive His love. My sin was the anger, a normal human emotion that had to be handle by God. The next time you feel rage, or anger over a problem consider not to be a slave to it but to be slave to love of God even if it not those that causing the hurt. Yes there are situations we do have to remove ourselves from. Do not ashamed of your humanity, God made us to love, but even he looked away from what we did to His Son.
Dear Heavenly Father, you know the pains of our life that causes us to choose evil at times as well as to choose love. Lord help us to run the race of faith, and practice love especially in times of sorrow, pain, anger and so forth. Help us to choose to be a servant always of you, and not servant to evil ways. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
