Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Acts 18:1-4 KJV
1 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

Everyone has a need to work and make a living. Paul even in his missionary journeys found work and place to stay. The glory road of faith is not about money, though their ministers that seem to have great wealth there other poorer then the mouse in the church. We have to ask if God provides for the mouse in the church, where is faith, or where is the ability to work and minister to others. In general I am optimistic when people are not working that in truth they would rather work then seek a hand out or hand up in life. In general people desire to achieve even if it is only something simple anyone could probably do it, but there always that acception to the rule. If we want build up the body Christ we need to examine what is the need of workers in the church and even outside the church building. Do they have supplies, do they have need for ministry and what about their physical needs. Do they need work to care for their own needs?

Ministry is not about sitting behind a desk all day necessarily, one does need study time, but truth ministers need to be with the public. How can serve a community if they never reach beyond the pulpit five feet in front of the congregation. They can not. Ministers actually do more work if they are any good then often seen by their own congregation. The problem is taking those opportunity God presents to the believer. You may not be a pastor but are you able to provide in another way. For example Aquila and Priscilla, were able to help Paul with work and a place to stay in his journey. It might not seem like a lot, but Paul had plenty of time minister and to preach on the road as well as help make tents. God's provision does not mean misopportunity else where. If he opens one door, he will open the other door of ministry to go with the work. Paul despite his work he continued to preach. In fact Aquila and Priscilla are said to be a helper to Paul.

To trust in God does not mean you do not work, or do not find work, or find assistance to living for a time. Ministering is taking the Gospel where ever God takes you on your journey. How many times should ministers tell their sheep, how many times should ministers need to tell their people that they are ministers to. Ministry is taking Christ wherever you go. Sharing the love of Jesus wherever you go. Do churches need ministers. Often they are the ones to fuel the flock for the week ahead, to provide the food needed to be spread all week. Some leave that message God prepared in the ministers heart right at the door.

God's provision is not always a hand out or hand up, but come on go to work in this world and share your love and/or ministering elsewhere after work. God will provide the strength, reassurance of your location and enable you to share with others. In Exodus Bezaleel the son of Uri who had understanding and wisdom, knowledge in all manner of workmeanship in gold,silver and brass. This was need in the construction of the Temple. Do you think he only did things in construction of the temple, odds are this was not only his life work of ministry, but he probably did other things on the side. This work for the temple would of been a paid position. I was thinking of how many positions could be covered by a church that seldom is. Help the people that caring for the flock, help those caring and working in ministry outside too.

If you like a particular field train in it, God can use that field, and yet you still may find your hands at times doing something else. God wants to use our talents, our gifts and fill us with his Spirit to do his will in our life. You want to build a church start with scripture, but it does not end there, encouraging people to use their life skills and talents to make a living. Church wants to feed their people encourage education, life skills and sharing Christ with others, which should be first and not last. Sharing how the church as a body is help people achieve goals and having victory over life difficulties.

Dear Heavenly Father, move the mountain of depression on your people, because of work problems. Let there talents and labor of love be used for your glory and honor. Give them strength to do your will as well as the labor need for their daily food. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:
4 Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.

Exodus 31:1-7 KJV
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:
3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
4 To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,
5 And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.
6 And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;
7 The tabernacle of the congregation, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy seat that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the tabernacle,
