Ready For God To Grant Your Desires?
08/11/2021

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Galatians 5:16-26 KJV
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Why is the fruit of the Spirit so important? Why is following after the Spirit of God more important then following the desires of the flesh, the desires of our humanity, and desires of what might look appealing but in reality has different consequences if prolonged in that desire. Unhealthy choices is following the human uncontrolled desired of our physical, emotional and mental need. As you grow older you find that things in life changes both physically, mental and emotionally around age fifty, sometimes before and sometimes later. It is that hormonal changes we want to think we learn to control in our teen years only became insane as adult. Our world is wreck by changes that effect us from pressures of life, sometimes medical that say we are getting older, sometimes it is changes in our relationships with others because of changes in our life. There is part of us that remains the same, but those other things are demanding either life style change, emotional change, or for some a sexual relationship change, economic change, and maybe even the crisis of trying to feel one belongs in the same circles they always did, but those circles are even changing. It is the new music on the radio that does not meet one's music needs and you learn you listening to the good but oldies station is no long old, but ancient past. You out of the league in bowling because you no longer have the ability to make a strike. The baseball league you can't make a home run or get to home plate, much less the basketball league you can not make the basket when it a matter in a life and death situation to win the game. The car you drive is antique so you have to buy one of them computer vehicles that now run off electricity and you find that it does not fuel up fast enough to pick up your grandchildren at daycare because you ran around all day never thinking about the need to fuel up. Now you are in a crisis, because the cell phone battery died as well and your ability to call is only a finger stroke away but the power got turned off, because a power line is down, and so your having a extremely bad day because your nearest neighbor is a mile away. You thought country living would be a breath of fresh air for retirement. How sadly mistaken were you, when you got to get somewhere.

That rough time of change and growth of the fifties can wreck havoc in a person's life, but what sad is when the desires of youth and abandonment of the ways of God causes sinful lust that are snuffed out with the need for food, clothing, and shelter and are then carried into the mid life crisis of adulthood. Where does morality end and begin in a person's life and when does the sensual desire of the body become forbidden to a child of God. Do not covet another man's wife, do not commit adultery and marriage is one man and one woman. When does sensual desire cause gluttony, desires of greed, desires of wantonness? It begins the minute of first thought and continues into gratification or trying to gratify the desire. These things do not matter whether a believer or not will get you kicked out of heaven. These things has nothing do with the Spirit of God. Can Christ blood cover these sins? If they are covered why are these things prohibit. God is building a holy church, creating people into his image, removing the sinful sensual desires and replacing them with his Spirit and the true desires of the heart, mind and soul of a person.

One either reach a point where either God is the one that satisfies or I still need all the desires of my sinful humanity. Either we desire the things of God more then the things of this world or we submit to the ways of God, who will meet all the desires of the heart. Most of our human desires, one chase after is sum up by trying to give ourselves love, hope and peace. Love is search for in many ways, and hope is gratified by insurance, reassurance, and future plan and goaled making and achievement. That is the human desire side. God's side is far greater.

What is God's Spirit wanting to teach us, hope and reassurance only relies in our eternity with God and not with what we can build upon and create in the world we live in. It does not mean we do not build or create, but the reason we build must begin with God's Spirit of love, and compassion for ourselves and others. To build on the fruit of the Spirit in regards to not only eternity, but in our world we live within, is the full story. Our President is working on the infrastructor of America. All the buildings, highways, electricity, and wifi technology coming together in hopes of bringing either the world closer together and safer, or spy technology. Despends on how these things are used to love and bring hope to the world, or bring destruction to the world. Only time will tell the true purpose of man. That much control is it good for the country or only the government. Everything always sounds good on paper. The reality of things sometimes is at a loss.

God pulls his people in by his Spirit. If we all follow the same Spirit, do we need to plan our church services. Only if humans running the show listen not to God. There is a song about being four days late, reference to Lazarus and his resurrection. What appears to us as Jesus being late, God's on time. God fruit that must be beared is always on time, though man may say if you only been sooner Lord, this would not have happened or I would not of sin, I would not have tried it my way and so forth. No God wanted you to be ready to receive his fruit to share with others. Abraham and Sarah were living in sin because of their waiting for a baby. Yet when time came they were told and a child was finally brought forth from the womb of Sarah in old age. Was God late, no he was waiting for Abraham and Sarah to come to that place that they were no longer doing things by their efforts alone but having to rely on him to make things happen. Sarah may of laughed but Abraham had too, but when Sarah laugh she tried to deny it. God was going to show her the impossible. Our laughter of impossible will be put to shame, for God will grant those desires of one's heart in their journey of faith, love and hope.

You might not feel you have all the fruits of the Spirit necessary to run the race of faith, but as you grow in Christ, you learn that provision is already there in God's timing and our willingness to allow God to intercede and do the work of love, joy, peace, longsuffering and so. Will you allow your own desires to be removed, and allow God to give you the true desires of your heart in your life.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to follow your Spirit and to learn to allow you to grant the desires of our heart, through our obedience to you and allowing you to be incharge of our life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Ephesians 2:1-10 KJV
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Psalm 37:1-40 KJV
1 A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
