Benefits Of Knowing God
8/28/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 103:1-22 KJV
1 A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
19 The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

What are the benefits in knowing God, to knowing his word and/Christ in the flesh and Holy Spirit was sent to us. David had the blessing of both the Holy Spirit and knowledge of the word of God in his life and relationship with God despite his sin. David knew God correction, but he also know of God's healing from sin/inquities, and diseases. What we fail sometimes to see is though God still does miracles in our lives, we also need things repeated in our life. God's blessings come again and again like the rain. God's benefits are knowing God is our healer, our deliver, our hope, our eternal hope, and our forgiver of all sin. David may of won one battle, but he had to learn to fight another when came, he had to deal with his sin as the knowledge of his sin pricked his heart, and he had to learn to depend on the one that could take him through the battle and forgive him of sin in his life.

Moses guided the people in the wilderness, but it did not stop Moses from daily seeking God for guidance of how to deal with a stubborn people, who failed to look to God before grumbling and complaining. Our need for God's mercy and grace is seen in the wilderness, but also shows God does not let our mistakes go unpunished when we fail to learn to trust in him for our needs. As the older generation of fifty and above begin to look at their own parents potential struggle from those able to save and those unable to save. Knowing the struggle that will come with age for some and for others the economic change will not be a battle. I think on these things and know many older people find they have to learn to trust in God maybe even more during these years to come. For the young they love life and have hope eternal. Some people look at their social security and say we never make it, so they down size hoping to survive the hardship to come. You can save all the money that you can and loose it like some did in the Great Depression era. The hope of financial security gone in a blink of an eye and yet we all take risk on what we can not see. Imagine following a leader into the wilderness, and leaving all known security behind, food on the table, shelter, and jobs. That what the Hebrew people enslaved by pharaoh gave up. They followed the miracles of the one that showed Pharaoh the power of God and talked to God, but they did not want that communication they wanted the intercessor in their life, because of their fear of God.

Now our need of intercessor has nothing to do with the fear of God, but has to do with sacrifice need for atonement of sin. Jesus is the intercessor for our sin. How will Jesus being the word of God coming as promised and laying his word down, into the grave for you and me to resurrected once more in our lfie. Meaning exactly that the word of God is the go between for you and I, but it more then that, we needed away of making restitution for sin. Now all the works and all the good deeds can not pay God, God said I going to have my Son crucify for you, that understand the cost of everytime I forgive you. For those around that see you break the law, also know the cost of the whittling of the law value down. The word of God when it is broken whittles it down to what, oh God not going to correct me because i am forgiven attitude, wrong, God still corrects his children depending on the height of that sin and God measures that sin that we repent not of. The word of God weakens no, nor does it lose value, but without God correction we see no need of the word, it brings about lawlessness. That why the promise of the HOly Spirit to comfort and to be our corrector is necessary.

If we are choosing God's way do you think we need God's correction the answer is no, why because we choosing his pathway. Yet as we follow Christ, our need to know how to follow God is necessary to stay on the right pathway. When we backslide and sin willfully, is God merciful, he can be. Our sins are already forgiven past, present and future upon receiving Christ, but if we not walking and following the direction of God are we living for Jesus? As the people followed Moses they grumbled and complained, where they following God or only the things they could see with their eyes. Benefits of knowing God is to know he take you through life and not leave you behind. If you loose your way he comes and finds you. The comfort of knowing when in times of distress, if we look up there is hope, but it also allows us to know the reality of eternal hope in our life as a believer. Benefits of being a child of God is knowing he will never leave or forsake you. To know he is always there. His grace is sufficent to heal our diseases and to forgive our sin. We likely to repeat our crime, but we are not likely to remain a criminal. We are cleansed through the blood of Christ, who paid the price for you and me on the cross upon belief and asking Jesus into your heart and to forgive you of your sin.

Our humanity might cause us to fall, but God has the power to keep us from sinning if we will only obey his Word and Spirit Yeah it that simple but do we always do it, sometimes we are like Israel in the wilderness, grumbling and complaining, instead of seeking God. There two accounts in the wilderness story of Israel needing water. Both times God provided. The first time water was bitter and God instructed Moses how to make sweet (Exodus 15) and the second time Moses hit the rock and sinned by hitting it twice when he only was suppose to hit i once.(Exodus 17). The repeat need of survival does not change, and God knows it.

We see hungry people around the world, and yet what happens when missionaries go in and provide food, clothing, shelters, and education to these people, God begins to do a work. When the education how to continue to keep water in an area happens, plant life flourishes. Need being met by technology and engineering, definitely God.

Man had not the technology of our world today in Moses day, but as ministers today with knowledge of construction, pipe, water, and how to irrigate nations have healed in recent times. God providing man with knowledge to help themselves is still a gift from God. One to be thankful for. God desires to send forth his people to help in the sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to tell the story of the cross, and his power to forgive.

Dear Heavenly Father help us not to forget the benefits of knowing you, or your power to forgive and to heal. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Ephesians 3:14-21 KJV
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without
