Prayer Of Faith
8/18/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

James 5:13-15 KJV
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

If God still heals like yesterday where is our faith? I think healing sometimes in religious world is over looked, because it not a remarkable event as some like to think. The story of it happening is not so unusual, but the reality of understanding the true miracle behind the healing is. Sometimes the person is looking not just for the miracle but if healed the explanation of the healing. The evidence there may of been a scientific cause and effect. The other day I go so angry at former first lady that declare science a winner. God is the winner always even if science plays a factor in the cause. The source of healing is always God, the means in which God heals maybe through by simple faith, but God use science? God uses the principal he established long ago. There are people born to age quickly and age so quick that their bodies are brittle before they even had a good chance to learn to walk and play into adulthood. Yet this process of aging show something we can not define by God and that is time frame to heal, faster then lightening speed, to create beyond lightening speed, to develop beyond lightening speed, to deliver beyond lightening speed, to perform a miracle by lightening speed, and to prove his power is greater then science or testing of man. Scripture in James tells us to go to the elders in the church and be anointed to be healed. That if there is sin we need to confess it. I have not seen this done in many churches quite the way James describes asking for prayer, but this maybe why there is a lack of evidence of God's healing in some places, because afraid to obey the simple law of prayer God established for man. However we need to realize that the prayer of faith shall save the sick. What it means if we confess our sins God is faithful to forgive our sins, even in our illness. Our illness remains, not always, nor does it always leave, but what does occur is the illness of sin that block your soul from eternal salvation can and will be redeem if you ask. Why not my bone mended, or my body made whole? Maybe even a demon cast out. If we talk about death bed confessions of faith you can understand quicker the reason for the passage in the since of hope for the one on death bed, whether deliver to this world or into heaven, his soul is saved from sin with the prayer of faith.

Our first healing needs to be unto salvation, our next healing should be mind and body of anything the devil will try and use to destory a person. If I see a man without an arm is he unable to be saved, of course not, can he be made whole, depends on the preacher you ask. Some claim to see bones grow back or to grow and others would claim an artificial arm or leg was given. Yet we do know the body can regrow bones. The point being is what kind of healing are we searching for something that makes sense or something that is impossible for man to duplicate in some form or fashion. The idea of a true miracle.

Before i got deathly sick I remember saying Lord if that illness happened to a poor person they never get a bone marrow transplant. I never got a bone marrow transplant but I am a walking miracle. God gave me a healing touch. When I think of healing touches in my life, my biggest question is why does God not heal everyone that way. Then I realize It not because people do not have faith that it is possible, or that God can not do a work in their life, or that they won't use it for God's glory. It that they struggle with reception of that word is for them as individual that God can heal them. That the pray in Jesus name will touch them to make them whole. That even in their unworthiness, God is willing to heal them. What does it mean to be made whole. Ask a man with no arm if God made him whole and if he is saved, he will say his soul is made whole. God is able to satisfy the heart. The arm not healed in this life time, but greater healing was his soul.

One of the greatest fears of growing old is the ability to defend one's family, oneself, and being alone. It is a fear we all carry within ourselves to a degree, but others fear it more. This is wear trust comes and faith comes, that God will keep one safe and whole until it is time to pass on to be with God. Faith is far greater then our weakest hour. Far greater then the arm that never grew back. Faith is greater then diabetes leaving ones body, or being delivered from illness.

Someone might ask how do I know, I learn that though I knew God could do it for me, the thing I treasure more then healing is faith that grew in my heart to enable my faith to stand against storms in life. Jesus in Mark 9:28, talking about demon possession, why they could not cast the devil out, and Jesus said "this kind can come forth by nothing but by prayer and fasting". Why did a blind man have to wait over 50 years to be healed, why did some deliverance not come, one maybe it was never asked, two was there ever any fasting(willingness to sacrifice for it), Some people will fast, but learn something greater when fasting is that the preparing of the heart for prayer or service to God is greater then seeing the miracle of God performed by prayer. Deliverance can come by fasting, if our heart ready to fast, or is it a chore to fast. Preparation to pray to fast needs to be considered, it shouldn't be treated as unwanted task, or a bragging rights. It is something solemn to consider and to be mindful of who God is and the reason we are making a petition to God for ourselves or for another. It is a time dedication for the work God has laid on your heart to do through praying for yourself or another. It is something that needs to be consider as a time of soul searching to purfiy oneself for the occasion God is preparing the heart for in ministry or to receive of God.

If we would follow reasons to fast, and study on fasting we know that praying for healing is more involved then just a simple anointing. It may take more then one prayer, one fast and even one agreement of prayer with more then one person in the name of Jesus. There is instant in scripture Jesus heals a man twice that is blind. The man is allowed to see a little healing, by seeing men look like trees, but when touched a second time the man is totally whole. Story is in the book of Luke I believe. This was for the disciple benefit perhaps or the one made whole. Sometimes we need sometimes is a spark of faith to get us a blaze and other times we need to be set on fire for the Lord. The spark allows us to know the possibility with God and the blaze enable us to walk through the storms in life with God.

Dear Heavenly Father, your grace is sufficient for all our needs according to your will in our life. Set us ablaze through healing of not only word, but the healing through obedience of your word. Knowing not all things happen immediately through prayer but some thing fasting and searching of our soul during fasting. Help us to prepare for your work in the quiet mediatation of prayer. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Mark 9:14-30 KJV
14 And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.
15 And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.
16 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?
17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
19 He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
20 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
21 And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.
