The Control Of Man Verses The Power Of God 8/04/2020
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisActs 5:12-42 KJV
12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.
13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.
14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,
18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
21 And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
22 But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told,
23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.
24 Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.
25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.
26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.
34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
36 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.
37 After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
One of the biggest threats to Christianity is the minute one is prayed for and is healed, some will regard the one praying as a god or goddess. Dangerous threat to the church. There was a Pharisee name Gamaliel and who was a doctor of law. He was not christian man, but he was a religious in regards to Jewish law. There were people after the resurrection that did not believe Christ was the Messiah. It hard to believe anyone would not believe in Jesus, but we got to remember several things is occuring one Priesthood traveled to Jerusalem and fullfilled their duties and went home to there own country. They served for a time period. So it possible those in opposition were not in Jerusalem at the time of the crucifixion, and two everything seen and heard would have to be weighed by each individual Pharisee, Saducee, priest and scribe on the view of Christ and the new found christian church. The fallacy of the pharisees way of thinking that if it was of God it would survive and if not of God it would not continue, is that many false religions continue and draw crowds for a time and even for centuries. The control of man verse the worship of God. The Pharisee not knowing Jesus is stuck in a place of do I believe these miracles by disciples, do I believe the wonders I see, or do i beat them to a pulp and cast them out of the synagogue, claiming if it is of God it will stand. Yet if you beating someone that is for God how can what you do be for God? There been times when false leaders had risen in the synagogues only to disperse; for example Theudas boasting he was someone but he was not, four hundred was slain, many obey/followed and it came to nought. That comes from Acts 5:36 and I paraphased it and in verse 37 man named Judas of Galilee in the days of taxing drew people after him only to perish and those that followed were disperse or ran to other areas. Now in the begining of this passage we see apostle performing many signs and wonders and miracles, even to the point that Peter shadow even healed people. What makes disciples not false prophet but a false prophet. With the type of wonders and miracles it make it easy for some to worship them not understanding to worship Jesus.
Did the apostle lead them to themselves or to Christ? The answer is always to Christ and they glorify Christ, God the Father and the Holy Spirit. When we recognize who is glorified we understand it is not man. Watching social media can give you a real quick image of the self ego of the political world. It is scary. Religion it is even more scary because the self world of religion does not exalt God but humanity, man, beast, or even man's own way of thinking of his own power and ability. Some of the biggest gurus of our time exalt self to get money to get wealth, and claim by receiving this wealth they are helping someone else and not themselves but what would be customery of rightful pay by their followers. Is it scary yes. People with common sense seldom follow these types of gurus but are self thinking and even sometimes supporting of these gurus because they see that it better these people follow someone good advice instead of no one. That way of thinking even more scary, because it insinuating that people can not decern the truth of God and hIs Son and the reality of false prophets. Because this is a Christian Bible site it goes on the permiss that Christ is the truth and everything else is a lie or particial lie, even Satan speaks truth when it concerning things he can not deceive or lie about in regards of sky being blue and not green. However his sky is perhaps green for he looking up through that dirt from hell and seeing green grass.
Now before I blow my point on a tangent, let me explain when we exalt man above God, devil above God, and any false relgion above God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit we are living under the antichrist with him ruling our hearts. Some gurus have a following they never intended and even some that have following because their ideas are sound in regards to common sense approach about certain things, but put that guru in an area of non expertise and he will crumble. God and Christ never crumbled. God instructs Noah how to build, tells Moses how to lead, tells Israel how to fight the enemy and win, and what will happen if they fail to worship him. Christ was a carpenter, Christ was a healer, teacher, friend to those around him. Even those that follow Christ could not see who He was. Even with gospel being preached, some only see the works of disciples, and follow them not knowing worship or adoration is to the wrong person. The world does the same in regards to their rewards, their medals, their crowns and so forth, giving it to the wrong person first. The first person honor should go to is God/The Lord and then honor perhaps in regards to saying Lord thank you for that person's obedience to Jesus.
The day I got healed i knew the minister had obeyed God. One of things if you looking for a minister is one that will obey God despite even common sense at times, because obedience to God has it own reward. You might say what do you mean. If God says jump in a lake, better do it because what behind you does not want to be wet and won't follow. The devil will not follow in believers baptism. Devil fears water more then God. Many believers afraid of water have been baptized out of obedience to God even in small streams of water, where there barely enough water to dunk a person in, to a river overflowing deep and wide, to ocean so vast that people with fear would normally faint never even blink an eye for they choose to obey God rather then man.
If God says duck you better duck, if he says waddle you better waddle, and if you can't handle it there is always the comfort of his winges. If you see a false Christ in our world and you choose not to follow, remember this that only thing that can happen to you, is what man can physically inflict on you. If you walk away from false Christ he can not hurt you spiritually, though you might be hurt from the events. Your faith is stronger then false leaders and teachers. Hang on to the anchor of your soul who name is Jesus. Choose God rather then man.
Remember the disciple were persecuted for following Jesus, but they had walked with him and knew the power his name, and the healing work of his hands. knew his teachings, and even knew his love. All things enough to carry the torture of Jesus, Father, and HOly Spirit onward and upward, over the hills and through the great plains of this world. Never worrying about desert heat, because God had a purpose for you being their like Philip speaking to the Eunuch and so forth. God's provision and greatness superceding all others.
The cure for pandemic is Jesus and those who will be finding the cure, is not God, but God allowing man to learn from what he knows about diseases, that he already taught him. Give thanks to God for anything that cures a disease, thank God for the power of Jesus name, and the power his Holy Spirit. Obey God rather then man. There are many false Christ today. Do not give more power to anyone, then what necessary, for God is the one that exalts man.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for power despite what those do to us individuals, let us always shout your praises, In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Acts 14:15-17 KJV
15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
1 Peter 5:6-7 KJV
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
