May Other Glorify God For What You Do
8/02/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 5:14-16 KJV
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

I am not one to brag to often of anything I do. However I love it when someone is praising God for something they see me do. No one wants to hear someone gave them a bad report. We want to hear the boss received a good report and that we are doing a good job. Why then would it be strange to have someone praise God for the work you are doing in prayer, and thankfulness to God. It should not be strange. However if God is hearing a bad report, you better ask why? If God is trying through someone else to get you to hear that mistake beware, God is allowing someone to test you, or someone to teach you. However whatever the reason for a false report, our God wants us to praise him and glorify him for the work we do in Christ name. Can we say thank you God for the word of God going forth through someone ministry. Can we say thank Lord for giving this ministry and outreach. Can we say thank you Lord, you are doing a wonderful job in this person's life.

It is easy to become critical of the church world, if you sit there long enough on a pew. However if you get involved and realize the work involved in some ministeries you know it pain staking aggravating to deal with some many diverse people, yet it is also a joy to see talent from all types of people, even the ones that get on one's nerves. God wants to use all people for his glory and honor. Can we say thank you Lord for the person that bakes bread and takes it to the elderly, can we appreciate and say thank you Lord for the deacon in our churches, for the work they do assistant both pastor and congregation. Can we say thank you Lord for the minister and teachers for the work they do educating the people. Can we say thank you Lord for the kid that sings off key and wants to be louder then the church. Can we say thank you Lord for the person wearing a fancy new and greeting everyone with a blessing. Can we say thank you Lord fo the person in the wheel chair that found a way to be involved in the work of the Lord.

The world as many lights in it, but the true light is the light of faith in Christ Jesus. We need to let the light of Christ shine before people so they will praise the Lord. We learn first to let our light shine in the church, but then it must shine outside the church too, so others of the world can see the light of Christ in the lives of believers and glorify God.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the work in the lives of your people that your light of Christ shines forth, through the work of each and every believer. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Philemon 1:5-6 KJV
5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
