God's Power In The South Wind 8/01/2020
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisNumbers 11:30-35 KJV
30 And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
31 And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
32 And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33 And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.
34 And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.
35 And the people journeyed from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.
The greed of man causes the fall of man, but it causes the fall because with obedience to God came protection. This is short devotion today. People began to lust/desire more meat perhaps would be better said then ten omers(measurement) provided to each Israelite and people traveling with them. If we stop right there God provided the meat only to correct those with a greedy lustful heart of desire for meat. Now during our Pandemic if toilet paper and hoarding had caused another plague many would of been in trouble around the globe. Yet what we see is God's covering and our governments covering for the need of items in time of trouble. We look and see even one more thing, the demand of items slowing way down, and hopefully not to speed up when people realized the entired effects of national hoarding did to our economy.
I think of this time of the meat given to Israel, carried from the east to the people, was a testimony of when that south wind of plague came for destruction, that God's power was good to those in obedience and God's power could be evil to those in disobedience. Now it matters not how we view our current situation, it different for everyone, but it similiar to this situation. Those that obeyed God were protected? Was God protecting every church, the answer is no, for sick came among them to destroy. The answer lies in are we ready to meet the Lord or ready to face the end time judgment of God? You will be facing one or the other on the day of judgment, God's deliverance through faith in Christ or total destruction by denying Christ, it is that simple.
God provision was not based on economic enability to provide more. The people just had to learn to ask God for meat and he would supply. I watched a hungry crow the other day eat two pieces of pizza. Had to go out several times, and someone had disgarded pizza on the road, the last time we past the pizza was almost gone. My first question to my husband does that crow know where to find more pizza, the second, question was that pizza healthy for that crow? I began to think, not one thing on the pizza was harmful to that crow. vegetable, meat and bread. I was taken back by those that threw it out, but then i seen this crow having that feast and thought again. Maybe that crow had been searching for pizza and asked God for it, for he had not been able to find pizza growing anywhere and maybe been hand feed it at some point in his life. His only danger was the location of the pizza, right in the middle of the road. It did bother the old crow with a watchful eye to danger. The moral of story, danger is always in our path, but do we thank and eat only portion God provides or do we desire more then what before us.
Let us thank God for his provision every day knowing God provision is one that he provide if we ask, and we desire it to the point of hoarding disaster may befall us. Take only the need to be meet, and God will provide the rest. It hard trust in this day and time, with so many things topsy turvey in our world, but it does not mean we can not and well not survive this national crisis. Hold on to Christ our Savior the thirst quencher of the soul.
Dear Heavenly Father teach us the provision you provide is enough for our bellies and our soul, that we need not to hoard to maintain our life, or maintain the life of others. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: James 4:1-3 KJV
1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
