Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Hebrews 5:1-14 KJV
1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Do ministers talk about flesh of Christ as much as I have typed, perhaps not, because in truth those that commonly believe that Christ walked the earth in the Christian world also believe scripture about the virgin birth. That Christ was human upon the earth. In today's continual scripture in I John it talks about the antichrist as being anyone that does not believe Christ came in the flesh. Several things to note about Christ ministry is that he healed the sick, and the crippled. Peter and John healed through the same power as Christ. Disciples followed Christ they experienced things common to man. Peter's mother in law became sick. This is a family crisis and yet Christ took time to go and heal her. Jesus appears to have no sick days while he walked the earth, though he knew what was to fast, to pray and to weep. He knew what was to draw away from the crowd for rest. He knew what was to be spend time with the people. God called him a a High priest in the order of Melchisedec. Melchisedec was a high priest at the time of Abraham, that was priest to the known world. Jesus is High Priest globally by God. There are things Christ in the flesh is second too in the world. Anything created before his days in flesh would of been before Christ leadership. Yet His word and Spirit was eternal.

Christ flesh still had something man in general did not the power of the word of God and The Spirit within the heart of man. Man without the gospel, without the word and Spirit struggle at enduring humanity of this world. The task God designs for each of us, for Judas his cross was the betrayal, for Peter it was denial, and for Jesus it was the cross of being the flesh and obeying God the Father even unto death. God enabled the ability for the cross to occur. The soldiers in the garden fell backwards. God's power in control of the situation. In humanity we are not able to do something. God allowed and controlled what the enemy would do to his Son that would die on the cross for sin. He was in control of the sacrifice. Jesus in the flesh could not of gone to cross without the power of God in him. He was beaten, the length of time from arrest to the cross, alone was tireable. Yet He still endure, mocking, beating, being spit upon, and then nailed to the cross. Christ faced the rejection of all man kind and then God left the human flesh of Jesus. On the third day he arose from the grave in the power of God. Christ death was no different then any criminals death for his family and friends gather around to wait to see what would happen. The earth cried out through earthquake and Eclipse, and the graves opening and dead walking into the city of Jerusalem.

Does God enable his people to endure I believe so. Yet people face what is common to man. What makes the cross special or unique, is it the rejection, is the pain, is it turmoil, no, but the power of God allowed it. No God allows many things to happen. What is different about the cross of Jesus? The evidence of those healed did not stop the crucifixion, the evidence of the blind seeing did not stop the crucifixion and miracles of wind and rain ceasing did not stop Jesus from his death. Did God prove his power reigns that all good things matter not, it will not save you from death. It will not protect you what you do in this life, The weight of sin alone is death, but no one but God can transform you to life eternal to be at home with Him in glory. Only two men in the Bible that did not face human death, Enoch and Elijah. Was Jesus Elias they looked for. Jesus had to face death for man to know about the resurrection through faith in God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Mary of Bethany believed in the resurrection even before Lazarus, why is it so important to know this power to know that death does not stop the eternal relationship with God when one believes. That God has the power to forgive, if we only believe. We are made righteous through faith not of our works. Abraham believe God long before he obeyed God. Christ faith through endurance through obedience, won eternal life. What? Christ obey God, going through ministry in prayer, as well as tears flowing because of both what He would have to endure, and because it was because of the sin of man he came to suffer and die to restore mankind back to the Father.

Man is horrible to people. In fact if you think on it to long the miracles were enough to protect Jesus. Do we crucify God through unbelief, through our actions that deny God ability. Do we not throw God to the curb or hide him on a shelf when we forget the blessings he bestowed on us. Jesus taught us how to submit to God the Father. How to obey despite the cost.The cost comes by how the world treats us, and the cost of being human. The cost of illness, the cost of disobedience to God. See the cross of obedience does not promise a rose garden. Did not Jeremiah find himself in a sewer, yes but once he stood there for his duration, he found hope outside the sewer of peace through the rest of his life. Christ faced his cross and through obedience He found his home in eternity waiting for His return with a crown and a throne chair. Do not the saints of God reign with Christ through eternity, then our suffering in this world is not our hope, but the endurance for the home of eternity is, of course not, the race is to say thank you Lord for saving me, for giving me that hope of eternal life, long before my obedience came. We believe in Christ before obedience. Yes many obey the law of God but not the Spirit of God. What I mean by the Spirit of God is to believe gift of Christ payment for sin and to believe in the comfort of the Holy Spirit even unto death. Without belief we are doomed. Without faith in God we are doomed. Heaven is for the believer not the non believer. God wants to enable you believe in Christ. For the cross of our life is the battle ground of the believer to learn to obey the Spirit and humble bow at God's eternal grace upon salvation through belief in Christ Jesus. To believe the Spirit and to obey is to see God power working in the world today, when the devil would say no. Devil wants you to bow to him, and in truth many people do, not trusting in God. To bow to God when the devil would prefer your obedience to him. He wants you to join him in disobedience to God. To live your life in filthiness of this world, in the deplore acts that cause humanity to fall, to sin through the lust of the eye to obedience of it. To fall to every temptation known to man, even gossip. But God wants your road in life, to be awesome, one of love and hope and joy impowered by the Holy Spirit, living in righteousness through faith, and good works. Living not to gossip, to not lie, live not in the filthiness of the human desire and lust of our world. He prefer us not to have to stand in the sewers of life, but sometimes, we do, and if we do then the hope and comfort awaits if we believe in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. See Jeremiah may of gotten out of the sewer but his home was still with the enemy. Yet God prepared a table of bounty before his enemies for Jeremiah. The hope eternal is for you and I, as the world of sin crumbles, his people are going to learn to trust his Spirit and obey so the hope of eternal life is not just words, but a reality to the heart, mind and soul as he prepares his people for last days. We needed Christ to teach us to live in our world, we need eternal forgiveness for our mistakes, We needed him to pay the price for our sins. We still pay for our mistakes in this world, but not in the world to come. Not in heaven, we no longer pay for our sins. What I mean we do not pay God for our sins ever as believer in Christ, but our sin in this world is judged by man. So you pay the consequence of sin in our world, unless man forgives. And Christians can you forgive the way God forgave you? Can you not seek revenge? We all get angry, hurt and frustrated with each other, but can we forgive.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son to not only die on the cross but show us how to bear the weight of our own cross in life, knowing you will help us carry it until we meet you face to face. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: 1 John 4:1-3 KJV
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
