The Word Of God And The Testimony Of Jesus
8/07/2019

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Revelations 1:1-3 KJV
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

I have not a lot of time to write this morning so I thought I nic pic on this one point in scripture that is used. After all the apostle John talks about Jesus being the word of God in John 1 and then in Revelations he says the word of God and the Testimony of Jesus as if separating Jesus from being the Word of God. The time period before Christ John was not a witness of but a testifier of and He is also a testifier by experience of the testimony of Jesus recorded in the book of John as will as the life and prophesy found in Revelations. It not a slight of hand of deception at all, it pointing out something unique. Christ testified of God and spoke about Old Testament as well as walked the earth. Christ testimony is then recorded, not separated, but part of the Word of God. Without the testimony of Christ we have not the prophesy of the Messiah fulfilled. The Messiah to come was spoken in Old Testament, did they understand the Word of God was salvation, I think so. For the prophets spoke the word God gave and those that followed found salvation and hope through belief. The hope through the word of God existed long before Christ, but Christ came not only to fulfill prophesy but to demonstrate God's word being fulfilled through death on the cross and life through the resurrection. God's word might die for a time, but it will rise again.

For example King Josiah(II Kings 23, 1 Chronicals 34) had the temple cleaned and the scrolls were found. They were read and repentance occurred. Repentance not only in the since of turning away from sin, but putting on the remorse and asking for forgiveness. Repentance in the Old Testament was seen in a very serious act of tearing of clothes, plucking the beard and falling face down before God in sorrow found in other Old Testament storiesNot only arising once finished to follow after the ways of God. Now today most do not go to this extreme in repentance but asking for forgiveness is part of salvation, but it does not stop there, one must turn away. King Josiah had a heart towards God and called his nation to repentance.

The Word of God being precious to the believer even in Old Testament times. It drew the heart of man towards God but it still took faith believing in God and His word for divine protection. Let us not with hold from the truth of the word of God being all in the Godhead trinity, salvation has been declared by the word before and after Christ. To believe Christ is more then just a man, is to believe He was the Word in the flesh. Not just as prophet but more then prophet, as being God reincarnated in human flesh.

There is spiritual salvation and physical in the flesh salvation. Salvation through victories in life battles, and eternal salvation of the heart and soul for eternity. The hope that comes through Christ Jesus our Lord forever through faith, because He came and died for us and rose again. The blessed hope of faith. Let us not deny the power of the word of God this morning.

Dear Heavenly Father, brings us to the reality of the salvation of your word through eternity. That Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Seen in all parts of the Trinity, both physical and spiritual salvation. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Revelations 20:4 KJV
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
