Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

1 Corinthians 15:55-58 KJV
(55) O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
(56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
(57) But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(58) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

O death where is they sting? Paul wrote the Corinthian church about the law and about sin and death. With the law we all die, without the law of sin we all live. No we do not all live without the law. Chaos occurs with the law. Law of chaos meaning everyone lives as they please with no guidelines or conduct. If one hurts a neighbor the only one that cares is the one that got hurt. There is no room for chaos in a world of laws. There is no room in heaven for chaos with spiritual laws in place. One spiritual law of faith, hope, and love exist for the world. The law of faith is through Christ Jesus. There is no other way to receive forgiveness of sin. It must come from the Word of God through the cross at Calvary. The law itself once broken of unbelief then lays way for sin. Sin being measured by the law of humanity and spiritual faith. Law of humanity means no one is justified by the law, but is often condemn by human law. Most people who drive have sped down the road in a hurry to get somewhere. Most people who ever sat in a long boring class has tried chewing gum to keep awake, even when the teacher has said no chew gum or candy. Most people have cross a few lines in the life time to rules and regulations. Yet faith is more then the law of man, it is the law of God. Is there a limit to faith? Ask Adam and Eve who sinned by eating forbidden fruit. Ask Adam and Eve the consequence for unbelief and the act of sin. Unbelief followed not only by though by action is deadly. The consequences leads to death. Belief leads to life eternal. Yet with belief there must be action of faith.

If we all faith in Christ then why would we sin. Why would we break the law of faith if we know to not sin. Our human nature or desire is often greater then our sense of right and wrong. Christ said Father forgive them for they know not what they do. Yet God is not only hearing forgive but seeing the blood pouring out of his Son’s body as well as the remaining of the liquid called water. Looking at the stripes that ripped his Son’s body to pieces and arms stretch to breaking point on the cross for you and me. God’s Spirit leaves His Son and the breath goes out of Christ. He dies because of the sin of world who crucified him. God rested on the Sabbath and early the next day after the Sabbath Jesus arose from the grave. After all were not the other tombs open and the dead risen, except for Christ, until the third day. Had not God done enough work on Friday.

God did not stop loving us because we crucified His Son, He should have, but he did not. How much hurt can you take before you refuse to forgive someone. As a child being bullied, at sometime I had to forgive the kids that bullied. Forgiveness never means you have to agree with what someone does to you. Forgiveness is more of saying that person is ignorant to the pain they caused you. They have clue to the insult or injury. A criminal that never comes to repentance has no clue what he/she has done. A criminal that says I know what I did and I am sorry has come to a place of where true turning away/repentance can take place if they desire to change. Yet true change can only happen through receiving Christ as Savior and Lord. Receiving His forgiveness for sin. Christ came back to his persecutors to save them. He hope his sacrifice would change them. The sight of what they had done would break their heart, when reality of the suffering came to understanding. He hope He did not die in vain to the world.

Jesus desires us to be unmovable in faith. To be so sound in doctrine of faith to know His word is true no matter what. He hopes that by us seeing His love, that we will desire to believe and obey Him through eternity. That we will trust Him, knowing His compassion for us. He also gave us the power to live the life by the Holy Spirit. He did not leave us with inability, but the power to obey, by following the Spirit of God. Our goaled after salvation should be going on in victory of resurrection of Christ Jesus knowing He forgave us.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the hope of faith, that through belief in Christ we are saved by and through belief, repentance and asking for forgiveness of sin. For the grace of your redemption through the price of Christ death on the cross. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

1 John 1:8-10 KJV
(8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
(9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
