Time Of Christ: One Stone Thrown Down
08/20/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Matthew 24:1-3 KJV (1) And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. (2) And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. (3) And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

If Christ is your Chief Cornerstone, then is there any other building blocks around you? Sooner or later the ones in your life that cause you to stumble in your faith must be removed from you. Most will say it is the passing away of life to death, but it more then that. It is the stones of faithful that one admires. They have to be removed so all you see is Jesus as your Shepherd and Lord. Teacher and people of faith are important to growing up in the Lord. Yet sooner or later they got to be removed from you in order for you to see God’s salvation is only through Him.

Let me put it another way. As human beings we idolize others in our life, especially those of strong faith. There are those that fall from the structure we build only because of sin. Then there others of faith that seem to be strong pillars of the church. Pillars not so easily removed in the thoughts of faith. Yet it necessary to remove these stones to get to the cornerstone of faith. It is that one on one relationship with Christ. That one on one discussion with God. Traditions are meant to be crumbled but the foundation is meant to stand. If one thinks about the Ten Commandments it is a baseline of all laws. There are times when our laws need to be drawn to the very basics to understand why others laws were made. The church structure might be solidly built but it cast down to see the Chief Cornerstone. To see the rock in which the structure of the temple is built upon.

Ever go through times of trouble you find out whether your faith is built on Jesus or on the building blocks of the temple of the faithful. The faithful did not get their position by building on another’s faith, but their own faith developing through their relationship with Jesus. The temple is meant to be built back. In fact most would agree reading this passage the temple destruction is prophesy concerning the destruction of the temple that was going to come after Christ resurrection. Yet it more then that in a spiritual information here.

Satan took Jesus up on top of the temple during the time of Satan tempting Jesus and told him to cast himself down off the temple. Jesus said scriptures says do not tempt the Lord Thy God. Simple fact Jesus could remove himself from top of the temple or watcher over the temple, but He does, the base of the temple is still there. If God allows the temple to be destroy the base is still there. The stones all tumbling down, only to be able to be restored. If the whole church falls to their knees and pass away the foundation it built upon remains. Nothing changes God’s word. God’s able to take the stones and rebuild. When Christ died the stones of the church fell only to rise up with the resurrection. The idea of Christ being dead sadden a group of people think He is the Messiah, not understanding why fully He had to die at this point. The stones of the faithful falling and crumbling only to rise in faith. For Christ died and the Holy men of old that were dead rose from the grave (Matthew 27). How that must of terrified the disciples that they closed themselves in the upper room. God has spoken. With the resurrection Christ watching over the sheep is back in place. I am talking of the spiritual church and not the temple that stands in Israel now with people flowing in and out seeking God, Allah, and Jesus. I am talking about spiritual faith, not seeking God in the building of idolatry. A temple designed for God’s people, but has become a stumbling stone of faith almost an idol of its own. The church building and temple is a place dedicated for worship unto God, but when it comes to being a place to bow to, it is sin. No matter the direction you are pointed in you technically would be bowing toward some structure including the temple. If I bowed to the Eiffel Tower what direction would I have to kneel in. It would not matter. All directions would eventually get me there as long as my line of sight is looped around the earth and the direction of the tower was within the loop. People bowing in one direction to the temple is only in obedience to a law of their tradition and not a law of faith. Circumcision a law of faith or a law of tradition or both. No where in Israel history was one commanded to bow in the direction of the temple. Yet the walls of Jerusalem has more then one door. The door gets narrow when it comes to faith In Christ Jesus the Word of God. People come seeking God in all directions, but not seeking what God says.

The recognizing that God is definitely in one part of the world and yet ignoring God is everywhere. The anointing in one spot of the world is just important as the rest of the world. Yet evil lurks in some areas, no evil even existed in Jerusalem. Anti Christ is able to rise because of man’s traditions and not necessarily God base tradition. God needs the traditions to be shaken so that when they are put back in place there is a reason. The cornerstone of faith can be seen. The traditions of man and the word of the Prophet will not save you. Yet all these things can help in the building up of faith to get to the root of faith. This is why churches have to be torn down only to be rebuilt. Faith must remain established through Christ Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father may the foundation of faith be built on Christ Jesus in our hearts. Your salvation plan for eternity with you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Matthew 4:5-7 KJV
(5) Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
(6) And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
(7) Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Matthew 27:50-53 KJV
(50) Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
(51) And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
(52) And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
(53) And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
