One Lord, One Faith

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Ephesians 4:4-5 KJV
(4) There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
(5) One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

One Lord and one faith, and one baptism is a not the shortest verse in scripture but almost. Jesus wept would be the shortest. Jesus wept over Jerusalem, Jesus wept for his friends and Jesus cried for you and me. He cried knowing we did not understand that life in this world was just a vapor, and their was more life to come. Then do we forget the cross if there is only one baptism and one faith. Of course not. Each part of God is important. Each part of God and understanding how it effects you and I is important. To be baptized in the word of faith, is no the cost of laying aside the word and allowing it die and not allowing it to resurrect in our hearts, to a better way of living. Jesus death and resurrection show and demonstrates the price of sin but also the cost of sin was death, and through his resurrection brought victory over death. Jesus showed not only the ability to raise himself to life but others as well. His ability to restore us to the kingdom of God. To bury our sin with His death saying Father forgive them for they know not what they do. And rising humanity up in forgiveness and newness of life. Giving us a do over in this world and for the world to come. Jesus did not leave us buried in our sin if we will only believe and receive salvation for our sins.

Jesus did not leave us buried in our sin if we will repent. He died for every man, woman and child so we might live with Him through out the ages to come. Will mankind change to obey God through the ability God gave through His Son and Spirit. Being baptized in his Spirit is learning to walk with the word written on our hearts to keep us from sinning. To learn to obey the Spirit of God. To be baptized is to know the freedom we have as children of God to live a life the best we know how following His will for our life. Some would rather follow their own will and ways to their own destruction.

What is life but a vapor, it is short lived, but it seems like eternity for those that live to be hundred I suppose. Yet for those that only breath life for a moment in this world to pass on to heaven as infants it is only a moment of tainted life of this world of sin, not of their own doing but of the doing of first man and woman. Yet had they understood the cost of disobedience, probably not. It was the first sin against God recorded in scripture. Yet it shows us how our failings to obey can cost us God’s protection in our life. Yet God still cover Adam and Eve with a fur coat. God covers us with his Son’s blood, forgiving us for our sins. He buries our sins upon receiving His Son for our sacrifice. Taking the need to sacrifice away for sin. Instead giving us a new life free from guilt. Free to worship God and to live in obedience to Him.

Dear Heavenly Father has we worship you and praise your name, May we understand that you are one God seen in three person’s with only one baptism. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Romans 6:2-10 KJV
(2) God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
(3) Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
(4) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
(5) For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
(6) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
(7) For he that is dead is freed from sin.
(8) Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
(9) Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
(10) For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
