How Is Christ Different

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Hebrews 1:1-14 KJV
(1) God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
(2) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
(3) Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
(4) Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
(5) For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
(6) And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
(7) And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
(8) But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
(9) Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
(10) And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
(11) They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
(12) And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
(13) But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
(14) Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

As I begin today lesson I will apologize for being a little short the past few days. My time clock seems to be off by a few hours. Sleeping at my computer while writing is not opposition at 4AM. Yet with that said I had to come to terms why the need of sleep perhaps because my hours got a little jumbled. It just like hours jumbling that God’s word often gets jumbled in our minds and we sort out our faith and why we believe what we do, to center the controversy of faith. There are groups that believe Jesus was only human. The part of Jesus being before the world created has not been taught to them. To see Jesus as a cornerstone of faith takes no belief beyond the fact he was a prophet and teacher of His day. Moses was a cornerstone of faith, as was Isaiah, Jeremiah, Abraham and so forth. Even though faith was the same each generation had their leaders. Billy Graham is said to be global leader, but with His age, he is not able to be the leader He once was. Television ministers that are consider prophets of today, and yet none of them are Jesus. Jesus is more then a prophet, that is where people in the world get divided. The understanding of God supremacy never a question if one believes in Jehovah, yet it when one talks of Jesus that His supremacy comes into question. Hebrew is one book that perhaps that explains certain key factors easier then others, though many books of scripture you can get from one point to the other. Hebrew is one of my favorites to use or to reconcile Christ divinity.

Let us begin by looking at what God says in Hebrew about His Son. His Son he made lower then the angels and crowned him with glory and honor, actually that taken from a verse in Hebrews 2, but it explains Hebrew 1. Hebrew 1 explains that the scepter would not depart from His Son. Not just any Son but His only begotten Son. The Son that was before the beginning of time. A Son that He made lower then the angels of heaven, by creating him in the flesh of mankind. Yet God called the angels to bow to His Son. The scepter of God verses the scepter of man. Joseph scepter would come to end and Hebrew people would become enslaved to Egypt. The shifting of rule and changes that came forgetting of the reason why Hebrews had power perhaps by the current pharaoh caused Hebrew people to be enslaved.

The power of republicans and democrats is based on who in office and who in our Senate and who appointed to the judicial branch of government. How laws are handed down and enforced. Almost enslavement to those that law does not work for and freedom to those that the law works for in the since of how it justly/unjustly effects the individual. The law is not perfect but having change ensures that all people are treated fairly at sometime or another hopefully. In other words everyone gets justice unless it to late that why laws are made on those that receive no justice, but the law has the ability to change.

With Christ the power of change is never. Christ has a set rule and agenda. Number one rule is all to follow and worship God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and to love others as yourself. In other words do not do to others what you do not want to be done to you. In other words keep yourself in check and do not worry what others are doing and I going to put unless in this, because their times when the good Samaritan has to be enacted when the devil terrorizing people, or general help is needed. There time for butting in and time when silence is golden. God has away of teaching that people will never forget.

God gave Jesus the authority the power to reign to rule for eternity. His Son was from the beginning and created all things. John 1:1-14 explains it that Jesus is the word of God. The word was given power and authority from God. Does it make the Word less then God? Only in one sense. One needs a head or hierarchy in any situation. A home with two heads, is a home that is going in two different directions that either causes a split if they never learn to work together. Take Siamese twins where they have two heads and one body having to learn to go where one or the other wants to go. The direction only decided by the one unless both are in agreement. In God’s kingdom there is only one hierarchy with three persons, and yet within three persons they are all in agreement with each other, The agreement comes by the word and authority of the word of God. Holy Spirit, The Son and the Father can not go against the Word. The Word having all authority or set standard. The authority was given by God to the Son.

If all the soldiers march in a line and only one is out of step the whole battalion is out of step. Until he or she gets is in time with his soldiers the whole battalion is out of step. Yet if that one gets in step the battalion is one giant moving force across a field because they work in unison with each other. God is never out of step and he works in unison with each part of the Godhead whether separate or whole.

The prophets and leaders of scripture though in tuned to God were human, and did not always do the things of God. Jesus was the exception, he was always intuned to the ways of God and did the ways of God in perfection. His humanity did not cause Him to sin. He had both the power of the Word and the Holy Spirit within His body to keep Him from sin. He was able to do the will of God without sin. Making Jesus greater then all the prophets, kings and leaders of the world. There were times Jesus claimed something the world around him could not accept because of human flesh was present. It is easier to see Jesus as the fourth man in the fiery furnace in the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego being invisible then to see our Lord crucified. Without the resurrection Jesus is only a human prophet and teacher and nothing more. Yet with His resurrection He is Savior to the World.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to grow in the understanding of Jesus as Chief cornerstone of faith, because He and was from the beginning of time. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Ephesians 1:17-23 KJV
(17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
(18) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
(19) And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
(20) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
(21) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
(22) And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
(23) Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
