Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Genesis 1:26-31 KJV
(26) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
(27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
(28) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
(29) And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
(30) And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
(31) And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

For Adam and Eve faith began with the fundamental of meeting God after being made. Yet for the average person faith might begin with someone first telling them about God at an early age, and the child taking it to be a fact. For others it might never begin until God speaks softly and tenderly to the heart. Yet faith will never grow without God moving in a person’s life.

God created man and placed him in the garden he gave mankind the things on the earth and all that grew in it such as herbs for food. Yet the animals he gave man power over to control, but I do believe someone forgot to tell a house cat that. Anyway those who have cats get it, for often the cat acts as if they are king and queen of their domain. As humans we were given gifts upon being created for survival, yet there is a time period or frame that has nothing to do with the world after the time of Noah or after being kicked from heaven. Adam was in Eden when the first promise of provision is given. It the same thing as saying the world is your oyster. Giving of everything if you will make something of it.

Faith was easy for Adam and Eve in the since of knowing the reality of God, but not to know what it meant to not believe or obey God did not come til later. There people that believe in God but have no concept of disobedience and obedience to God plays out in their life and the lives of others. Belief and obedience is a choice. To believe in the reality of God and know He exist is not the same as following God.

Our choice to believe what God says is the defining point of faith, when we believe God’s word to be true. God said to Adam to not eat of this one tree because he would die. Adam did not trust God enough to obey when his wife said hey look this is delicious have a bite.

Believing God existed was never a problem for Adam and Eve it was obeying God. Their offspring would struggle with both the reality of God and obeying God. Some of their children would obey God without knowing or believing in God and others would believe in God but have no fear when it came to obedience or disobedience to God. An Atheist has to wrestle with the idea that if God exist then is their evidence of God and the answer is always in God’s creation. The evidence is seen through the naked eye or a telescope your choice in today’s world. Everything is created from some type of natural element in our world even if it becomes a synthetic. Belief might begin with evidence of creation but it must be built upon for it to grow into faith.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for giving evidence of your existence through creation and gifts to man. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Romans 1:17-23 KJV
(17) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
(18) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
(19) Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
(20) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
(21) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
(22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
(23) And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
