8/27/2015

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Proverbs 11:14-21 KJV
(14) Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
(15) He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.
(16) A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.
(17) The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
(18) The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
(19) As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.
(20) They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.
(21) Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

Safety in those that are surround by wise counselors. To have wise leaders around you that practice their teaching is smart. Lot took two strangers in not knowing there were angel’s of God. He took them in his home and they were protected by Lot. Lot went against the town men when they surrounded his home demanding the two strangers so they basically could rape them. Lot went has far as offering his daughters when the strangers protected his daughters. The men finally left leaving Lot enough time to rest before he and his family had to escape that early morning. The angel s of the Lord propelled Lot’s and his family out of the city before the city was destroyed by the wrath of God.

To enslave oneself to a stranger is a risk that Lot was willing to take even at the risk of his family. Lot had guaranteed these strangers his protection. His word was His bond to these strangers. . Lot probably knew the risk he took by taking these strangers in. Yet he was willing to do so, knowing the locals were nothing but devils. Yet the process he lost his wife on the way out of town, for she would turn back to see the destruction of the city. Lot enslaved himself to two strangers, and because of his word almost lost his entire family, but in the process of God’s divine plan for Lot and his family protection was provided to those that obeyed.

Never give way to evil though evil plots against you. The seeds of righteousness will produce and overcome evil, evil will not stand for any length of time, though it will rise and fall.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your divine protection against the enemy that seeks gold, wealth and sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
