8/25/2015

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Proverbs 11:1-8 KJV
(1) A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
(2) When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
(3) The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
(4) Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
(5) The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
(6) The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
(7) When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.
(8) The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

Solomon had the outward appearance in the temple of holiness. He gave the sacrifices according to what was commanded of the law. Yet Solomon life style became abomination to the Lord. He became an Idolater, along with having so many wives. He built altars for his wives gods. His understanding of righteousness failing at these two points. Yet I doubt if he seen himself has wicked. I feeling he seen himself as righteous before at the point these words were given. After all there was a time in Solomon life he did not follow other gods as far as we know. His wisdom taught by his father, taught and called to memory by God to judge and rule God’s people.

To teach someone right and wrong does not mean your morality is necessary of God. There is people that teach their children never to steal, never to gamble, never to hit a person, never to cuss another person and so forth while living a life of sin of their own choosing. Solomon failures were public eye. How many people listened to their king. After all how woman taken by force to be brides comes into question. If Solomon wanted did King Solomon get. Just knowing how this old world is, certain things never change. Did Solomon righteousness through faith save him. Solomon died not seem wicked. He seem to be called by God in his early years. Solomon was a lad when he became king. Has he grew into adulthood he changed.

God corrected Solomon about his wives, but it did not ever say if Solomon listen and about his adultery God confronted him. Did his wickedness cause him to loose his salvation. He worshipped God and idols. Yet he was forbidden to worship idols. He was commanded not commit adultery. Yet Solomon had successfully put God in a box in his lifetime, by building a temple and in his home.

Yet Solomon spoke Godly wisdom that he learn from youth. He would of known the language of the godly people. God used that in his kingdom for His glory, for those that listen to the godly wisdom of Solomon youth knew that it was of God. They would of known that all sin and Solomon sin was just very well seen. Yet was the sin of adultery of spiritual adultery is like treason. You can not serve two masters. Only God or idols. No one knows what Solomon spiritually decided. He was a man of choice in a since.

The concept of eternity sweeping into faith, through understanding and wisdom of youth. The concept of death being yet to come, but the soul living. The fact the body decay, but soul continued on. Wickedness is judged by God. Faith is more then just believing it is doing good works. Yet belief is the beginning point. Good works will not save, but obedience to God is testimony of faith in God. Solomon lacked obedience. Did God’s talk straighten Solomon out. I hope for his sake it did. Sometimes God talking to us is what is going to effect us most. God warned Solomon on more then one occasion about foreign wives and following him.

How Solomon could teach wisdom of God yet his life demonstrated the evilness of money and power. How even a powerful man knows righteous ways. Be forewarn dealing with people of power and prestige. Life is life and little changes when it comes to power no matter the discipline of human being in power to serve God. Human desire is going to win at some point in life. David a righteous man knew his weakness of women cost him a son.

Dear Heavenly Father to know righteous is not the same as living it. I know in my own life I have not always lived righteously before you, but keep my feet from slipping, make my path straight going towards you and lead me onward and upward toward you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
