Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Proverbs 5:1-23 KJV
(1) My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
(2) That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
(3) For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
(4) But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
(5) Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
(6) Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
(7) Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
(8) Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
(9) Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
(10) Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
(11) And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
(12) And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
(13) And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
(14) I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
(15) Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
(16) Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
(17) Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
(18) Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
(19) Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
(20) And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
(21) For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
(22) His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
(23) He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

How alluring sin can be especially if you compare to a bar of chocolate or attractiveness of opposite sex can be in adulteress allurement or affair. The enticement of a stranger to Solomon most of been great. For he chose over 800 women. Abraham was no stranger to adulterous affair in fact he had more then wife. Yet in Abraham defense he eventually sent all his wives away except Sarah. Women in scripture were never to be known to have more then one husband, yet no doubt being first or second or third wife as a life style. Yet it was not one commanded by God. Yet the enticement of women have been the lust of men for generations. It is not hat women do not have lust in their hearts it has to do with the fact women want to feel loved and cherished and not just one night stand. The woman at the well as consider a harlot for she had five husbands and the one she had currently was not her legal husband. Yet Jesus spoke to her and she knew of who He was.

Just because you are seep in sin does not mean you can not know who Jesus or God is. It means you are in sin that is going to be corrected. Yet it might be a sin you choose to ignore because of your lust for it. It might be sin that plagues your everyday life because of the need for money or greed. It might be because the desire is stronger then the desire to please God. It might be because simply one does not understand the wisdom to obey God when it comes to desire of sin. Yet whatever the cause does not change the fact of sin. People sin everyday that are saved. Our life of perfection comes with the covering of the blood of Jesus, not by covering of sin or humanity of the realization we all sin. There was price paid for sin, for the going after the adulterous whore or church of sin, the wife of the devil. The harlot of all sins. The deceiver and his followers. Never doing whatever one else is doing just because society says so, but following the Spirit of God to fulfill his will. Just because you are fulfilling God’s will does not mean you will not get the desires of your heart. Yet your desires are not going to be the desires of sin, but the desires of things good for you. It might not be in life time unless those of faith are living in a time of prosperity. It might be a time persecution and then those desires will be granted but not always in this life will all desires be fulfilled.

It might seem like a golden road to be one to be persecuted, but it either destroys your faith, or builds your faith. Sin and correction will either tear your faith apart or strength you if you choose to obey the correction. The writer of Proverbs 5 comes to place he is glad for the correction, He is glad he did not continue in the way of sin. He turn away from sin and death. He turned away from the harlot. He turned away from the allurement of sin. God does not always prevent persecution of the righteous. Yet God does strength the righteous. Without the power of God Christ in the flesh without the power could not of carried the cross after the beating with the whips that tore his skin because of the bone and metal fragments in the whips end that tore the flesh. Leaving openness of his flesh to pour blood for you and me, because as our sin he was beaten and nailed to the cross. This one persecuted by man was named Jesus. No one realizing He was the only begotten Son of God.

Our sin bury with belief with Christ death and our life anew with His resurrection to live in holiness and perfection, based on the covering of the blood poured out for you and me. Will you walk today in the wisdom of God and his mercy and grace? Will you walk in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who can remove any enticement of sin from you. Who can aid your from sinning. It still is a choice to sin or not to sin. That will never change.

Dear Heavenly Father the road I am traveling on is one that desires to serve you and not sin. To serve you knowing you will grant the desires of my heart. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
